The council will set questions for the annual exams of classes IX and XI in 2024
The 2023 ISC (Class XII) exam is expected to begin by the second or third week of February and the ICSE (Class X) exam is likely to begin by the last week of February.
The “tentative” time was announced by officials of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) at the annual conference of the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC) in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

“The ISC should begin by the second or third week of February and ICSE by the last week of February. We will announce the dates by the end of December, hopefully,” Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the council, told The Telegraph over the phone on Friday evening.
In 2022, the council had two semesters for both ICSE and ISC because of Covid. As the scare of Covid waned, the council announced in May its decision to go back to one exam at the end of the academic year for the batch of 2022-23.
Arathoon addressed school principals at the conference. The council will set questions for the annual exams of classes IX and XI in 2024.
“This will be to ensure uniformity in the question pattern,” Arathoon told The Telegraph.
Schools will have to hold the annual exams for classes IX and XI at the same time when the board sends the question papers.
