There are many reasons why people have to abandon their dreams. But today we’re going to focus on one person who was able to achieve his dream: IAS Himanshu Gupta, who cracked the UPSC CSE exam through hard work and dedication.
Himanshu Gupta is an IAS officer from Sitarganj, Uttarakhand. He is a source of inspiration for all civil service aspirants because he never gave up despite poverty and many difficulties. He cleared the Union Public Service Commission’s Civil Service Examination thrice, most recently in 2020 with an All India Rank of 139, without resorting to any formal coaching.
Himanshu Gupta, a resident of the Sitarganj district of Uttarakhand, was smart and studied since childhood. Himanshu’s father was a daily wage worker and only made INR 50 (less than a dollar) a day, but he was determined that both his kids would go to school to get a better education.
After witnessing the downfall of his family, Himanshu’s father took charge and established a tea shop. Himanshu used to help his father at the tea shop after his school hours were finished for the day. IAS officer Himanshu Gupta had to travel 70 kilometers every day just to learn basic English. After completing his schooling, Himanshu joined the Hindu College of Delhi University. He used to teach tuition and also write blogs to pay the fees.
Himanshu Gupta is an example of what can be achieved through hard work and determination. Despite not clearing the UPSC Civil Services Exam on his first two attempts, he persevered and became an IPS officer in 2019. He continued to pursue his dream of becoming an IAS officer and finally achieved it in his third and final attempt. His story is an inspiration to everyone who has a dream, no matter how difficult it may seem to achieve.
