Ukrainian universities take up the last option from their side, asking students, to choose mobility or transfer their program, even if the situation in Ukrainian is worst and campuses are damaged.
Authorities from the Ukrainian universities gave three options to Indian students they want to resume classes, they’re asking to come back to campus despite the risk, temporarily join online classes or enroll through universities in other countries or transfer their programs to different universities in other countries.
Some Ukrainian universities are affected badly by this war, still, they choose to have the last option, they are asking students to have “mobility” or transfer their program to different universities. The Ukrainian universities had tied up with some particular institutes in the rest of Europe where students can continue their studies.
In Ukrainian Universities next semester will begin on 1st September, So, they are given one week period to clear fees and have a decision. Some universities also suggested students write to National Medical Council (NMC) in India as well as the Indian Embassy in Ukraine as these Ukrainian universities didn’t get clarity from them on the decision to continue the online classes or mobility for Ukraine-returned medical students
MD house which is an agency that recruits students for the Ukrainian state medical university in Chernivtsi, A representative of Maharashtra, Dr. Audhoot Nidgude commented on this topic and said “options for continuing online classes or mobility to other countries were being considered, but didn’t give any further detail”
But, some students from BSMU university shared a letter that said “university is resuming classes in offline mode for those who can come to Ukraine while online mode will be offered to those who can’t go back at the moment. We recommend transit visas through countries bordering the Chernivtsi region, like Moldova or Romania, to arrive at BSMU. The tuition fees have to be paid until August 26 which indicates students’ decision to continue learning at our university,” As per the IE report
One student from TSNM university in Kyiv, the area that’s affected by the war, also confirmed the university has informed students about continuing offline classes, they also said they’re arranging mobility programs in Georgia or Poland.
BSMU in their letter mentioned that, there are some restrictions on online education in some countries yet they didn’t get to know the offline position from NMC.
One student from Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU) said “the official partner for recruiting Indian students to the varsity, Bob Trade Education Group, has offered a transfer.”
Another student from this university Mudit Mehrotra, from Varanasi, mentioned “the agency is expected to transfer students to Georgia. “The process is going on and is expected to go on till mid-October which means we can go there by then,”
But, some universities are still grappling with some uncertainties, one student from DSMU university said “They have offered us four formats; one option is to continue online study at the university by staying in the same country of residence. A second option is a mixed form of study if we plan to go to Dnipro, which involves online theoretical classes and practical classes. A third format is a mixed form of education with the involvement of foreign partner universities and the fourth option is to study at a partner university in an academic mobility program during one or two semesters,”
