IIT Bhilai: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai was founded in 2016 and offers almost 20 courses in Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Master of Technology (MTech), Master of Science (MSc), and Doctoral degrees (PhD) in a wide range of discipline.

In addition to offering BTech and MTech curriculum in computer science engineering (CSE), electrical engineering (EE), and mechanical engineering (ME), the institution also offers a PhD program in the departments of chemistry (CHM), computer science and engineering (CSE), electrical engineering (EE), mathematics (MTH), mechanical engineering (ME), and physics (PHY). The institute began its BTech program in August 2016 and presently offers BTech and MTech in these fields.

BTech programme at IIT Bhilai

IIT Bhilai provides a four-year undergraduate BTech curriculum in the following fields: computer science and engineering, data science and artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and mechatronics. JEE (Advanced) test scores are used to determine admission to all of these programs. Each of these courses has eight semesters.

Every semester, students will be taught eight to nine college courses, and they are required to participate in National Service Scheme (NSS) or National Sports Organization (NSO) activities that the institution has specified for a minimum number of hours each week. Courses at IIT Bhilai are divided into breadth and depth in accordance with the fractal educational model.

BTech at IIT Bhilai: How to apply?

Step 1: Go to the official website of NTA (nta.ac.in) —  and apply for the required national level entrance exam.

Step 2: Fill out the application with required documents. For BTech aspirants fill JEE (Main).

Step 3: Pay the application fees and submit the form.

Step 4: Candidates are shortlisted based on JEE (Main) & (Advanced) scores

Step 5: Seats are allotted for JoSAA counselling

Step 6: Check merit list for results.

Step 7: Wait for the counselling

Step 8: If selected, pay the admission fees or wait for the next merit list.

IIT Bhilai Scholarships

Students from the unreserved (UR) and OBC categories can apply for Merit-cum-Means Scholarships at IIT Bhilai. For UR students to be eligible for the scholarship, parental income cannot exceed Rs. 5 lakh per year, while it cannot exceed Rs. 6 lakh for OBC students. The other financially deprived students (whose family income is between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per year) who receive a two-thirds tuition fee waiver are also entitled to a one-third tuition fee reimbursement per semester in addition to a monthly stipend of Rs 1000.

All SC and ST students whose parents’ annual income does not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakh are given Institute SC/ST Scholarships. In accordance with this scholarship, students are given pocket money of Rs 250 per month in addition to being excused from messing and boarding fees (to the amount collected).

IIT Bhilai Placements

The institute received more than 125 employment offers during the 2021–22 placement session, with the highest yearly salary being Rs. 27.43 lakh. For this specific academic year, the CTC averaged around Rs 14 lakh annually. The institute provided 100% placements for MTech-level computer science and engineering (CSE) students in 2021–2022.

While companies like Adobe, Arista, Salesforce, Trilogy, Edvora, Ascent, Expertrons, SigmaRed, Click2Cloud, and others are recruiting for internships.
