JEE Advanced 2022 registration completed, 1.6 lakh students to appear for the exam

2.6 lakh students cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. Out of this, only 1.6 lakh students have registered for the JEE Advanced 2022, including 50 foreign nationals. These students will be sitting for the exam that will determine admissions to the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) colleges. 

The registration was finished on Thursday. The computer-based exam will be conducted on 28th August at 600 centers, located in 226 cities all over India. Students have until August 12 to pay their examination fee and complete the process. The admit cards for the exam will be released on August 23. 

In 2021, out of 2.6 lakh aspirants who cleared the JEE Main exam, 1.5 lakh appeared for the JEE Advanced. In 2020, 1.6 out of 2.5 lakh students registered for the JEE Advanced exam. In all the 23 IITs, 16,232 seats are available, including 1,583 supernumerary seats for females.

IITs have also been witnessing vacancy issues in the recent times, especially in the new IITs. In 2017, 121 seats were left vacant, whereas, in the previous year, the number was only 96.
