On Friday, the Supreme Court listened to the plea for postponing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Post Graduate (NEET PG) 2023. However, the decision was deferred to Monday as some information was missing. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) reported to the court that 2.09 lakh candidates have registered for the NEET-PG exam 2023, and if the exam is postponed, there may be no alternative date available in the near future. Aspirants for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Post Graduate (NEET PG) 2023 are hoping for its postponement. They claim that the candidates did not receive enough time to prepare due to changes in eligibility and to reduce the gap between the exam and counselling dates. The gap between the exam and counselling has increased to five months from one month previously. Senior Advocate Gopal Shankaranarayanan informed the bench about the concerns of the candidates. The bench has postponed the hearing on the plea for the postponement of NEET PG 2023 until the Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhat appears on behalf of the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Registration Updates for NEET UG 2023

According to an NTA official, the registration for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2023 exam will commence by the first week of March. The application process was earlier scheduled to begin from the second week of January until the last week of February. However, it has been postponed to the first week of March. As per the official NTA calendar, the NEET UG 2023 exam is scheduled to be held on May 7, 2023. Tamil Nadu Government Challenges NEET Validity in Supreme Court

The Tamil Nadu government has filed a lawsuit under Article 131 of the Constitution challenging the validity of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET) for medical courses. The state alleges that the principle of federalism is being violated by exams like NEET, which takes away the autonomy of states in education decision-making. The plea further states that while the validity of NEET was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2020, it curbs unfair practices such as granting admission based on paying capacity, charging capitation fees, and exploitation of students.
