Delhi University (DU) announced their second round of spot admissions and released a list of vacant seats on Monday. The varsity said that the candidates will have a two-day window to apply, which falls on Tuesday and Wednesday. They also said that the allocation list will be released on December 2 and that the candidates will be given a few days to accept the seats. They noted that the candidates will have to pay fees by December 6.
“The candidates who want to be considered for spot round II will have to opt for ‘Spot Admission-II’ through the varsity’s website,” the varsity said in a statement. Simultaneously, DU will also open a window for CW (under armed forces) and Kashmiri migrant candidates, selected under the supernumerary quota, to upgrade to their preferred course.
On Monday, the seats of candidates who were admitted to courses in previous selection rounds will be auto-locked, and they will not be allowed to withdraw their admissions. Meanwhile, round I of spot admission, which began on November 20, will conclude on Sunday. At least 8,680 students were allotted seats in this round and are not eligible to participate in the second spot admission round, the varsity said.
As of Friday, a total of 6,953 students had accepted their allocated seats in the university’s undergraduate programmes. With 70,000 seats available in total, this leaves approximately 60,084 students who have been admitted to various courses.
The Delhi University’s admission process began on September 12 and is being conducted in three phases: the application process, preference filling, and seat allotment-admission. This year, students are being admitted to the university based on their score on the Common University Entrance Test, rather than their Class 12 marks.
