A total of 118 universities in India have secured their place in the QS Asia University Ranking 2023. Out of these 118 universities, 5 universities including IISc and Delhi University have made it to the list of the top 100 Asia universities. IIT-Bombay has improved its position from last year’s 42nd to 40th rank this year followed by IIT Delhi (46) and IIT Madras (59).
IISc Bangalore comes in at the 52nd spot, with IIT Madras at 53, IIT Kharagpur at 61, IIT Kanpur at 66, and the University of Delhi at 85 as per the QS’s data, that was released today.
Apart from these universities, IIT Roorkee, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), and BITS Pilani have also secured a spot in the top 200 this year.
Five of the top ten universities in QS Asia University Ranking 2023 are located in China. Peking University is currently the number one university on the list followed by Singapore’s National University of Singapore (NUS) at number two and Tsinghua university, China at number three.
The QS Asia University Rankings releases the list of top universities in Asia each year. The rankings are usually based on 11 indicators which include academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, and international research network among others.
IIT Bombay dropped from the 37th position to the 42nd position in the Asian rankings in the year 2022. However, the number of Indian universities featured in the ranking remained the same in 2022 and 2023. Peking University ranked number 1 this year and was in second place in QS Asia 2022 rankings.
