The Uttarakhand police have arrested around 19 people in the SSSC paper leak case. They are accused of asking for money from candidates for providing answers to questions in the SSSC exam.
The probe into the state Subordinate Services Selection Commission (SSC) paper leak will continue until the last person involved in this is arrested, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ankit Ramola, a resident of Uttarkashi, was arrested by the STF while investigating the case. According to a senior official, Ramola is linked to Uttarkashi district panchayat member Hakam Singh Rawat, the major accused in the case.
On Sunday, the Special Task Force (STF) of the state police arrested Rawat for allegedly taking money from candidates in exchange for supplying correct answer sheets during the graduation level exam held on December 4 and 5, last year. After his arrest, the BJP terminated him from the party. So far, 19 individuals have been detained in relation to the case, according to the chief minister. “No one will be spared and if further investigation is required, the government is ready for that,” he added.
Hakam Singh was asked about his ties with various politicians and officials. Dhami said that if anybody breaks the law, they will be arrested. The main opposition Congress, on the other hand, said detaining small fish in the matter would prove nothing. The chief minister formed an SIT owing to the opposition’s pressure, according to state Congress president Karan Mahra.
