Neil belongs to an Indian-American origin and will join the list of Indian-origin global tech heads like Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen, and IBM’s Arvind Krishna.

Neal Mohan is the new CEO of YouTube and has been working in the company since 2015 as the chief product officer. Before joining YouTube in 2015, Neil worked at Google from 2018 onwards.
Susan Wojcicki, the former YouTube, released a letter stating, “ I’ve spent nearly 15 years of my career working with Neal, first when he came over to Google with the DoubleClick acquisition in 2007 and as his role grew to become SVP of Display and Video Ads. He became YouTube’s Chief Product Officer in 2015. Since then, he has set up a top-notch product and UX team, played pivotal roles in the launch of some of our biggest products, including YouTube TV, YouTube Music and Premium and Shorts, and has led our Trust and Safety team, ensuring that YouTube lives up to its responsibility as a global platform”.
Mohan tweeted after the official announcement, and said, “Thank you, @SusanWojcicki. It’s been amazing to work with you over the years. You’ve built YouTube into an extraordinary home for creators and viewers. I’m excited to continue this awesome and important mission. Looking forward to what lies ahead…”

Neal has his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University. After completing his bachelor, he did an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Neal Mohan was born in either 1975 or 1976 in Lucknow, India.
Neal is married to Hema Sareen Mohan. They tied the knot in New York during his tenure at DoubleClick. Hema has been involved in the non-profit and public welfare sectors for two decades.
A review of Neal Mohan’s LinkedIn page shows that the Indian-American executive launched his professional journey at Accenture, where he worked for about 1.5 years. After that, he was employed at DoubleClick, which opened the door for him to enter Google in 2007. His rank then increased to that of SVP of Display and Video Ads.
Prior to joining Google, Neal Mohan had a brief stint with Microsoft where he held a managerial role in the corporate strategy department.
In 2013, Twitter, then under the direction of Dick Costolo, made a bid to bring Mohan and current Google CEO Sundar Pichai onto their team to oversee the development of new products. According to a report by TechCrunch, Google offered up to $150 million in stock grants to keep the two highly valued product employees in their company.
