Who’s Laxman Narasimhan?

Laxman Narasimhan New Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Starbucks is a consumer-industry veteran with roots in India’s Pune city.

Laxman will become part of a coffee giant on October 1st and he will succeed Howard Schultz. He faces challenges like declining sales and pushbacks from unions. Schultz will be an advisor to Laxman.

Laxman, Studied at the University of Pune’s college of engineering. After completing an engineering course, he went to the United States to study at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton business school. He also held top positions in big companies like Reckitt Benckiser Group and PepsiCo.

He worked for McKinsey from 1993 to 2012 which is reputed as global management consulting firm, where he progressed as the director and location manager of their office in Delhi.

Laxman also progressed as the chief commercial officer for the beverage giant company PepsiCo in 2012. There he also became Chief Executive officer (CEO) of PepsiCo for Latin America.

In the year 2019, he moved and become the CEO of consumer goods company Reckitt Benckiser. Move by the work, the company credited the executive with uplifting its “strategy, execution and foundational capabilities”.

Laxman also did and led projects in the public sector, particularly in the area of skills building and education. He is also a member of the American Non-profit foreign policy association and brooking Institution, a think tank.

Laxman was also praised as a leader for “exceptional strategic capabilities and consumer insight”.

His former company Reckitt Benckiser also said words about him “ (He has) a proven track record in developing purpose-led brands and driving consumer-centric and digital innovation,” they further added, “He has previously led complex operational businesses and inspired teams across developed and emerging markets to achieve market-leading performance.”
