
The University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC – NET) (to be conducted by CBSE) will comprise of three papers that will be held in three separate sessions. The UGC NET (November) 2017 exam pattern is explained in detail here.
There will be no negative marking for wrong responses.
To qualify for the recruitment as Assistant Professor and to be eligible to be awarded a JRF, candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately in all three papers:
For General category: Minimum marks to be obtained in Paper-I and Paper-II is 40% each and 50% in Paper-III.
For Reserved Category (OBC (Non-creamy layer)/ PWD/ SC/ ST): 35% in Paper-I and Paper-II; and 40% in Paper-III

Paper-I: It will cover basic principles which will assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily test the candidates’ reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness.
Paper-II: It will consist of 50 questions based on the subject of study chosen by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.
Paper-III: This paper shall consist of 75 objective type questions based again on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.
