Rani Durgavati University, formerly known as University of Jabalpur is a state university established on 12th June, 1956 under the Jabalpur University Act, 1956 (Act No.22 of 1956). The university has been named after the great queen of Banda (UP) Rani Durgavati.
The university is offering courses on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Bio-Science, System Science, Physical education, Management, Law and other frontier fields of higher education.
Rani Durgavati University enjoys the 'Accredited' status of 'B++' conferred by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore on 12.11.2002. This grading is based on the institutional score between 80-85% awarded by the Peer Team of the NAAC and approved by its Executive Council and is valid for five academic years i.e. up to 2006-2007.
Apart from conducting regular classroom programs the university also offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and P.G. Diploma programs in Arts, Science, Commerce and Computers and IT. The Directorate of Distance Education is the institute that provides key resources for conducting these programs. The institute has nine study centres at present and is establishing more centres in the near future.
