Jawahar Navodaya Samiti has laid down certain eligibility criteria for the students who want to get enroll in its various chains of schools. The eligibility criteria are as follows
A candidate must be studying in class 5th in a school of the same district where he/she wants to take admission.
A candidate age should not be less than 9 years and more than 13 years in the year in which he/she wants to take admission.
Candidates seeking admission under rural quota must have passed class 3rd, 4th and 5th class examination from rural area.
No. of attempts to appear in JNV’s test is limited to one.
Selection Process
Admissions to various classes of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas is through a national competitive examination. The test is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and is popularly known by the name of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas Selection Test (JNVST). Till 1998, NCERT used to conduct the examination, which is non-verbal and objective in nature.
Reservation :
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas reserves 75% of total seats for children belonging to rural areas, 33% seats for girl children, 15 % seats for SC’s and 7.5% for ST’s.
