A new scholarship has been launched by the Dutch Ministry of Education for the first time for students applying at Universities in Holland. The scholarship awards 5,000 Euros to students for the first year of their study at a university in Holland and can also be combined with other scholarships to be received by the student for their studies. This “Holland Scholarship” is only available to those who are going to study in Holland for the first time. The information for the scholarship and particular details were announced by Nuffic Neso India which represents Holland’s education system in India and is involved in their promotion in the country. The last date to apply for the scholarship is 31 March, 2015.

The scholarship is the first effort by the government of Holland to attract students of Indian nationality to their universities and the trend is likely to rise with many lucrative incentives being provided for international students to study at Dutch universities. This particular Holland scholarships initiative was made possible through the involvement of Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the VSNU (the Association of Universities in the Netherlands), the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and EP-Nuffic.

In total, there are 48 Dutch research and applied sciences universities participating in the scholarship, which will be provided to 768 candidates who reside outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and have successfully applied to a bachelor’s or master’s course at one of the 48 institutions.

Application Criteria

  • Your nationality is non-EEA.
  • You are applying for a full-time bachelor’s or master’s at one of the participating Dutch higher education institutions.
  • You meet the specific requirements of the institution of your choice.
  • You have never before studied at an education institution in the Netherlands.

How to apply

In order to apply for the scholarship the applicant needs to first identify the university, college or course that they have applied for and check whether it is covered by the scholarship providers. If that is the case then they can send their applications to the designated representative of their selected institution and the institute will select the students who will be granted the scholarship and get in touch with them.
