The Hornby Scholarship is a yearly scholarship provided by the British Council to teachers of English language for a one year M.A. level study in the United Kingdom. The scholarship focuses on supporting key English language specialists, such as senior teachers, teacher-trainers, inspectors and material writers by enabling them to study the English language and teaching theory and practice for an academic year in the UK. Graduates are then encouraged to use this knowledge to advance the teaching of English in their home countries.
The Hornby scholarship provides English language specialists the opportunity to study a one year Master’s program in an English Language Teaching (ELT) related subject at a university in the United Kingdom.
This year, the British council is looking to for two candidates to participate in the MA programme. The candidates will be placed in one of these institutes – University of Lancaster, Leeds, University College Plymouth, St Mark and St John (Marjon) or University of Warwick.
The acceptance of applications is usually undertaken at the beginning of each year.
