How to prepare for CDS (I) Exam 2022 ?

UPSC will conduct the CDS (I) exam on 10th April 2022. Some candidates start preparation for the Combined Defense Services as early as from the 10th class. If you plan to get into the Naval Academy or Air Force Academy, you must make sure that you either take up engineering (B.E./ B.Tech) or B.Sc (Physics/ Maths) at your graduation level. For IMA or OTA, you must ensure that you graduate with any degree from a recognised university or equivalent.

If you plan to get into the Naval Academy or Air Force Academy, you must make sure that you either take up engineering (B.E./ B.Tech) or B.Sc (Physics/ Maths) at your graduation level. For IMA or OTA, you must ensure that you graduate with any degree from a recognised university or equivalent.

If you’re planning for admission to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Naval Academy or Air Force Academy, you must be prepared with English grammar, general knowledge (GK) and basic mathematics (up to class 9 & 10th level.) Candidates aiming just for the Officers Training Academy (OTA) need to prepare only for English and GK.

English: You may refer to popular grammar books such as Wren & Martin to get your basics right and read newspapers and magazines regularly to improve your language fluency. Try to expand your vocabulary by using newly learnt words in your daily conversations.

GK: Make a habit of regularly reading newspapers and magazines related to current affairs (Manorama Yearbook etc.) This will not only keep you up-to-date on all latest happenings but also aid in improving your English language skills.

 

Mathematics: Practice is the key here. Refer to the syllabus and use any good practice book to solve as many questions related to every topic.

Coaching Institutes: There are many coaching institutes across India for the preparation of this examination. Before joining any such institute, you must check for the following:

1. Competency of the faculty-You can do so by attending one or two trial based classes. (Generally these are offered for free).
2. Check whether the institute has full- time faculty. Most coaching institutes generally have part time faculty who may not be available when you are need them.
3. Previous years’ result of the Institute.
4. Interact with the senior batches of the students; it will help you in knowing more about the institute.

Reference Books: General Knowledge, General English and Elementary Mathematics. For practice of examination oriented questions buy the books which cover the entire syllabus. You must ask your book seller for the latest edition / print . Flip through magazines, newspapers, books, and websites to enhance your General Knowledge and communication skills.
