T.N Government Is Coming Up With a New Programme SIRPI - Know Here What It Is About

MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, will soon inaugurate an initiative where 50 students will be selected from 100 schools in the first stage.

The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a new program called SIRPI (Students In Responsible Police Initiative) which will be similar to the National Cadet Corps (NCC). The program will be inaugurated by Chief Minister MK Stalin and will see 50 students being selected from 100 schools in the first stage.
This initiative by the Greater Chennai Police comes as a response to increasing concerns about safety in the state. The SIRPI units will be stationed in different areas and will be trained to handle minor issues and crowd control. The aim of this project is to address the issue of juvenile delinquency, which is driven by factors such as socio-economic status, peer pressure, lack of family support, and unemployment.

Meanwhile, the final phase of the rehabilitation camp for Sri Lankan Tamils being set up at an estimated cost of Rs 17.17 crores in Thotanuthu village in Dindigul District has been completed and 321 houses are being built there.

Additionally, an overhead water tank with a 60,000-litre capacity has been set up in the rehabilitation camp area, at an estimated cost of Rs 14 lakh. Moreover, an Anganwadi center park and library are also being established at an estimated cost of Rs 11 lakh, as stated in a report by ANI.
