The All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi, conducts the AIIMS entrance examination for admission into its Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. Students who have completed a recognised 10+2 or equivalent can take the test.
AIIMS is among the best medical colleges in India and its entrance exam is among the toughest medical exams in the country.
The entrance exam is online (computer-based) and tests for admission into undergraduate (UG) medical courses. Test sections are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. Test takers are evaluated for their knowledge of what they have studied up to the 12th standard and if they are able to complete coursework in medicine.
The course of studies leading to the award of the degree of MBBS at AIIMS, New Delhi and the six new AIIMS institutions (Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar). This course generally lasts for a minimum of 5.5 academic years (including a one-year compulsory internship).

AIIMS, New Delhi offers 72 MBBS seats to Indians and one seat to a foreign national. The remaining 6 AIIMS-like institutes offer 100 MBBS seats each, only for Indians.
You are required to submit the AIIMS MBBS exam application form online, at www.aiimsexams.org. The cost of the application form includes an entrance examination fee which is non-refundable. The candidate is required to go through the prospectus carefully and acquaint himself/herself with all requirements with regard to completing the online application form.

Candidates should have passed the 10+2 exam or equivalent with a minimum of 60 percent aggregate marks in English, physics, chemistry and biology. The minimum is 50 percent for Scheduled Castes/Schedule Tribes/Orthopaedic Physically Handicapped (OPH) candidates. If you are currently appearing for the exam with English, physics, chemistry and biology as main subjects, you may appear for AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam 2018, provided you attain the necessary marks and provide documentation of these marks when required. Candidates should be 17 years of age by 31 December of the year of admission.
Selected candidates may not necessarily gain admission – it is mandatory to pass a medical examination before getting a final admission decision. The medical check-up will be held in July, 2018.

Admitted candidates must begin classes on 1 August, 2018 (16 July, 2018 for AIIMS, New Delhi). If the candidate does not join classes, the seat is cancelled and offered to those on the waiting list. Candidates are not usually admitted to the course after 30 September of the year of admission. Those selected for admission should bring the following documents for registration:
Cutoff marks for the test are 50 percent minimum for general category candidates, 45 percent for Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates and 40 percent for SC/ST candidates. This applies to AIIMS, New Delhi and the six new AIIMS. OPH candidates are also required to score with at least 50 percent marks.
The merit list will be declared by 1 July, 2017. A notice will be displayed on the Examination Section, AIIMS and these candidates will also be informed by speed post/registered post. Results are also available online.
Before the final admissions decision, candidates must pass a medical examination. If you are found medically unfit, you will not be admitted. In order of merit, the next candidate is admitted.
Your AIIMS entrance exam admit card will be available in May, 2018. Please be aware that admit cards are not available by post and must be downloaded from the AIIMS website (www.aiimsexams.org).

The exam is three and a half hours in length with one paper consisting of objective type questions (multiple choice and reason-assertion type). The test is offered online or offline.

The exam is generally written at the level of the 12th standard in the 10+2 scheme/intermediate science. The institute does not prescribe a syllabus.
Incorrect answers are given negative marks. Correct responses earn one mark and incorrect responses are marked -1/3. Unanswered questions receive no credit. If you give more than one response, the answer is treated as incorrect.
The examination will be held in the eighteen cities listed below. Candidates should indicate their first choice of centre in the application form. Once you choose a test centre, your choice cannot be changed.
