The exam pattern for the CSIR UGC NET 2014 will be as follows: It will be a 200-mark Single Paper Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) test of three hours duration and will be divided into three parts:
Part A:
This section contains a maximum of 20 General Aptitude questions. You will be required to answer any 15 of the 20 questions. A total of 30 marks is allocated to this section. This section is common to all subject papers.
The questions will pertain to the areas of General Science, Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis, and Research Aptitude.
Part B:
This section contains subject-specific MCQs. A total of 70 marks is allotted to this section and you should attempt between 20-35 questions. The number of questions varies as per the subject paper.
Part C:
This section contains higher-order questions which test your knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of these concepts. The questions will be analytic in nature and a total of 100 marks is allotted to this section.
Wrong answers will be awarded a negative mark.
In all the subject areas of the NET, the number of questions asked and to be attempted will vary from exam to exam.
