The Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies and Research was started in 1948 as Nautical and Engineering college near Victoria Terminal, Mumbai. The college was renamed as ‘Lal Bahadur Shastri Nautical and Engineering College. Later in 1994 the college again renamed as Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies and Research’.
The college offers post sea maritime education and training for Merchant Navy Officers. The college is supported by Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India. The institute has moved to its present location, Hay Bunder in 1965.
A large number of marine officers join this college every year for post sea education and training. The college offers about 31 post sea study programs that meet to the standards of Government of India as well as International Maritime Organization. The college is fully equipped to meet the requirements of marine officers afloat and ashore. The college offers education to both Indian as well as foreign nationals.
