The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) Chennai was founded by Alladi Ramakrishnan, a noted physicist and mathematician in 1962. The institute carries out research in frontier areas of mathematics, physics and computer sciences. Research task at IMSc is well supported by Department of Atomic Energy Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu. The board and academic council looks after the IMSc. The member of the institute works mainly in the areas of mathematics, theoretical physics and theoretical computer sciences.
The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) Chennai offers graduate research program to those students who wants to pursue a doctoral degree in the areas of mathematical sciences / theoretical physics / theoretical computer sciences. Besides offering graduate research programme IMSc also offers post – doctoral program and supports visiting scientists’ scheme etc.
Library and computing facility at IMSc is really excellent. The institute also participates in a number of scientific research programs / meetings every year at national and international level.
