JEE Advanced 2023 Cut-off increases number of qualified candidates also increases

JEE Advanced Cut Off 2023

JEE Advanced 2023 Cut-off increases number of qualified candidates also increases

In the JEE Advanced 2023 examination, there are 43,773 candidates who have qualified. Among them, 7,509 are girls, which demonstrates a notable rise compared to the number of girls in 2022 (6,516) and 2021 (6,452).

JEE Advanced Cut Off 2023

The results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2023 were announced on Sunday, and the qualifying cut-offs increased across categories this year. The IIT Hyderabad zone had the highest number of qualifying candidates, both overall and among the top 500.

A total of 43,773 out of 1,80,372 candidates cleared the entrance test for admission to undergraduate programmes in 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) this year. This is a pass percentage of 24.26%, which is lower than the pass percentage of 26.17% in 2022.

The qualifying cut-off for the common rank list (CRL) was 23.89%, which is a significant jump from last year’s CRL cut-off of 15.28%. This increase in the cut-off is due to a number of factors, including the following:

  • There were more questions without penalty in this year’s exam, which resulted in less percentage of negative marking.
  • The number of candidates registering for JEE Advanced has seen a significant increase this year.
  • The number of candidates qualifying for the JEE-Advanced has to be double the number of seats available for admissions.

The IIT Hyderabad zone had the highest number of qualifying candidates, with 10,432 candidates clearing the exam. This zone also had the highest number of candidates in the top 500, with 174 candidates.

The IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay zones followed closely behind the IIT Hyderabad zone in terms of the number of qualifying candidates.

Of the 43,773 candidates who qualified, 7,509 are female, compared to 6,516 in 2022 and 6,452 in 2021. The qualifying candidates this year also include 13 foreign nationals and 155 Overseas Citizens of India.

The results of JEE Advanced 2023 are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students who took the exam. The high cut-offs show that the competition for seats in IITs is fierce, but the results also show that there are many talented students in India who are capable of excelling in engineering.

The result was declared by IIT Guwahati.

Medical seat competition set to intensify as 1.3L candidates pass NEET

Medical seat competition set to intensify as 1.3L candidates pass NEET

Medical seat competition set to intensify as 1.3L candidates pass NEET

Brijesh Sutaria, a parent, expressed that this year would witness fierce competition for securing medical seats due to a substantial increase in the number of students who successfully qualified NEET.

Medical seat competition set to intensify as 1.3L candidates pass NEET
"According to Sutaria, the government made an announcement regarding the establishment of medical colleges in 14 different areas. Inspections for colleges in Ratnagiri and Parbhani have already been conducted by the National Medical Commission (NMC), and the applications for these colleges are currently being processed."

The competition for securing admission to medical colleges is set to become more challenging this year due to a higher number of students qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The NEET results, which were announced late Tuesday night, revealed a significant increase in qualified candidates, but the availability of medical seats remains unchanged from last year.

“In Maharashtra, a total of 131,008 students have successfully cleared the national entrance test, surpassing the 79,974 qualifiers from the previous year. Maharashtra stands as the second state with the highest number of qualified students, trailing behind Uttar Pradesh, which has the highest number of NEET qualifiers at 139,961.”

Brijesh Sutaria, a parent, acknowledged that the surge in qualified NEET candidates this year would lead to intense competition for medical seats. Sudha Shenoy, another parent, highlighted that there is a minimal discrepancy in percentile scores among various ranks.

Consequently, many students are attaining lower ranks due to a larger pool of high-scoring candidates, indicating the possibility of higher cut-off marks for college admissions. However, despite the significant increase in NEET qualifiers, there are unlikely to be substantial changes in the number of available medical seats this year. Last year, Maharashtra had a total of 10,345 seats for MBBS and dentistry programs across government and private colleges.

Sutaria mentioned that “the government had announced the establishment of medical colleges at 14 different locations.” Inspections by the National Medical Commission (NMC) have already been conducted for colleges in Ratnagiri and Parbhani, with applications currently being processed. In the midst of these developments, the NMC has issued a revised notification regarding a change in the lower-age criteria for candidates.

In the previously declared graduate medical education regulations for 2023, it was stated that candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before January 31 of the year in which they appear for the NEET-UG examination. However, in response to multiple candidates flagging the error in the date, the lower-age criterion has been amended to consider December 31 instead.

Tamil Nadu Outshines with Record Breaking Top 50 Ranks in NEET UG 2023 Exam

NEET UG 2023 Results

NEET UG 2023 Exam: Tamil Nadu Shines Bright with Unmatched Number of Top 50 Rankers

Renowned for its firm resistance against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Tamil Nadu has achieved remarkable milestones this year. Not only has the state produced the highest-scoring candidate in the country, but it has also secured the third-highest number of candidates in the top 50 ranks. It is noteworthy that merely five years ago, Tamil Nadu had no representation in the prestigious top 50 rankers’ list.

NEET UG 2023 Results

Tamil Nadu, which has been opposed to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), has achieved its highest-ever tally in the top 50 positions of the exam. The state has six candidates in the top 10 ranks, including the country topper. This is a stark contrast from five years ago when the state had no representation in the top 50.

The increase in the number of Tamil Nadu students excelling in NEET is in line with the recent trend of more students from the state figuring in the top 95 percentile of candidates qualifying. The total number of students who scored in the 95th percentile and above in Tamil Nadu has doubled from 2,307 students in 2021 to 4,600 students in 2022.

This is despite the fact that the cut-off marks for all categories have increased this year.

The cut-off for unreserved category students has increased from 715-117 last year to 720-137.

Similarly, the cut-off for Sc, ST and OBC medical aspirants has also witnessed an increase from 116-93 to 136-107 this year.

The performance of Tamil Nadu students in NEET is a remarkable achievement, given the state’s opposition to the exam. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, their teachers and parents.

US Remains the Top Pick for Indian Students as August Classes Commence

US Remains the Top Pick for Indian Students

US Remains the Top Pick for Indian Students as August Classes Commence

The United States continues to be the preferred destination for Indian students seeking higher education.

US Remains the Top Pick for Indian Students

Despite the impending recession and job losses, the United States remains the top choice for Indian students seeking higher education.

According to renowned education consultants and loan providers, the number of Indian students opting for financial assistance to study in the US has increased significantly in the past year. Experts expect this trend to continue in the coming months, as the application period for US universities closes in August.

There are several reasons for the rising appeal of a US education among Indian students. These include:

  • The high quality of US colleges and universities
  • The increased capacity for US visas this year
  • The shorter wait times for US visas
  • The growing number of Indian students aspiring to pursue foreign education, not only from metropolitan areas but also from tier 2 and tier 3 cities

Sanjay Laul, Founder and Advisor of education management company M Square Media (MSM), said:

“The United States has always been renowned for its exceptional educational institutions and the opportunities it offers for personal and professional growth. Given the ongoing economic uncertainty, Indian students are seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in a competitive environment like the one provided by this destination market.”

Indian students continue to enroll in undergraduate and MBA programs at top-ranked US universities. STEM programs additionally grant students the opportunity to stay and work in the country for three years after completing their studies, while non-STEM students are eligible for one year of post-study work.

Laul noted:

“The emphasis on research, innovation, and practical application of knowledge in the US education system makes it an ideal choice for Indian students aspiring to excel in their chosen fields.”

Laul also emphasized the significance of the US in cultivating future global leaders. Indian students studying in the US not only benefit from the high-quality education they receive but also contribute to the rich diversity on American campuses. This cultural exchange fosters mutual understanding and nurtures long-term relationships between the two countries.”

Laul concluded:

“The United States is a leading education destination for Indian students, and I expect this trend to continue in the years to come. Indian students are well-positioned to make substantial contributions to their respective fields, help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), address critical skill gaps in the job market, and tackle crucial social and economic challenges.”

Rebuilding the Indian Education System: Arvind Kejriwal’s Endeavor after British Influence

Rebuilding the Indian Education System: Arvind Kejriwal's Endeavor after British Influence

British Destroyed Indian Education System, We Are On Now To Fix It: Arvind Kejriwal

Kejriwal stated that every year 2.5 lakh boys and girl complete their high school and become ready for college. Approximately 1.5 lakh of these students graduate from government institutions, while the rest attend private schools, he added.

Rebuilding the Indian Education System: Arvind Kejriwal's Endeavor after British Influence

On Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the British of destroying the Indian education system and turning it into a production line for clerks, and he urged students to train to become job creators rather than job applicants. Kejriwal made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) campus in east Delhi, during which he was interrupted by BJP supporters shouting slogans.

Kejriwal dedicated the new campus to the nation and described it as one of the finest in the nation.

He said :

“It is one of the nation’s finest campuses in terms of facilities and architecture, and it has outstanding facilities. This campus has the capacity to house 2,500 students. The influx of students from across the nation will increase the number of hostels and guesthouses in the area. “As a result of the university, the number of shops and restaurants will also increase in the area,”

"Kejriwal stated that :

“Annually 2.5 lakh boys and girls graduate from high school in the city and are prepared for college.”

He added :

“That approximately 1.5 lakh of these pupils graduate from government schools, while the remainder attend private schools. When we first founded the government in 2015, we discovered that only approximately 1,100,000 college seats were available for these students in Delhi. Consequently, there was a shortage of approximately 1,400,000 seats. Over the past seven or eight years, the number of college seats has increased from 1.1 million to 1.5 million.” We still have a shortage of 1 lakh college seats, and we are working on a solution,”

He said :

“Emphasising that the AAP had a plan for primary education and is now focusing on higher education.”

In his speech, the prime minister also criticised the British bureaucrat Lord Macaulay for designing an education system that continues to exist for the primary purpose of producing clerks. Prior to that, I had heard of a highly effective education system.

He explained :

“That there were acharyas in every village, and that the children of the peasantry and the monarch studied together. In the 1830s, the British replaced the Indian education system with their own, not to educate the natives, but to cultivate educated bureaucrats for the foreign bureaucracy that governed the country. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts, and, in some cases, a Doctor of Philosophy, we have difficulty finding employment.”

He questioned :

What is the point if there are no jobs for our students?

“This campus will teach automation, design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data management, and innovation.”

He stated :

“Kejriwal stated that each university’s vice-chancellor should be responsible for finding employment for students, and he exhorted students to become entrepreneurs instead of pursuing scarce jobs in the country. The Delhi government is considering conducting a survey to ascertain, among other things, what happens to former students of the city’s institutions, as stated by the chief minister. We must conduct a survey to ascertain the current occupations of Class 12 graduates from Delhi government schools over the past five or six years. We wish to determine what percentage of students continued their education and what percentage dropped out. We would like to know if they attended college in Delhi or somewhere else.”

Kejriwal said :

“We are interested in learning what occupations these former students now hold,” he explained. “If we have this information, we can determine in which areas we need to work harder and what school facilities can be provided to these students to help them succeed in life.

Nearly the totality of his speech was interrupted by BJP employees shouting in the audience. The earlier speech of Education Minister Atishi was also interrupted by pro-Modi and anti-AAP sloganeering. Vice-Cancellor Mahesh Verma of the university warned the agitators to calm down or he would be forced to cancel the event as the disturbance increased.

During her speech, Atishi disclosed that when she posted photographs of her campus visit two months prior, someone asked her,

Is this the campus of Stanford University or New York University?”

I responded :

“No, this is the Delhi government-built Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University campus.” According to some, the nation will progress as a result of the building of flyovers and bridges.

She stated, “According to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the country will advance by building more schools and colleges.”

As the dignitaries spoke, the speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Ram Nirmal Goel, left the podium. He stated that his name did not appear in the publications when contacted. “I say with regret that, despite the fact that my position is a constitutional one, my name did not appear in the papers,” Goel said as the crowd chanted “Shame, Shame.”

Before delivering a speech in which he remembered former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who is currently incarcerated in Tihar, Goel requested a moment of reverence. “Manish Sisodia inspected the ongoing construction work at the university on multiple occasions and invited me to the IP University construction site on three separate occasions.

Consequently, I hold him in high regard,” he said. The GGSIPU campus in east Delhi has become the latest source of contention between the AAP-led city administration and Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, with both factions claiming the right to inaugurate the newly built campus and take credit for its construction.
