Rajasthan: Another student dies by suicide in Kota, toll reaches to 15 in 2022

The incident that took place in the Talwandi area under the Jawahar Nagar police station of the city came to light on Friday.

In yet another case of suicide, a 16-year-old student ended his life by hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room, police said. With this, the total number of cases of suicide by students in Kota rose to 15 this year. Police identified the deceased as a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

The incident that took place in the Talwandi area under the Jawahar Nagar police station of the city came to light on Friday, they said. The police placed the body in the mortuary for postmortem and began a further investigation.

Earlier on December 12, three students preparing for competitive exams allegedly died by suicide in two separate incidents within 12 hours, police said. Ankush Anand (18), a NEET aspirant and resident of Bihar’s Supaul district, and a JEE aspirant from Gaya district, were found hanging from ceiling fans in their respective rooms of their paying guest (PG) accommodation early Monday morning. The third victim, a NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance in his hostel, police said.

The NHRC has also sent notices to the Rajasthan government, Union secretary of higher education, and the chairperson of the National Medical Commission over the alleged suicide by three students in Kota.

More than two lakh students from across the country are currently taking coaching for entrance exams in medical and engineering collages at various coaching institutes in Kota and living in around 3,500 hostels and PGs.

NEET UG 2022 Counselling: Candidates allotted seats in the stray vacancy round will have to report to the allotted college with the original documents.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has begun reporting for the stray vacancy round of the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2022 counselling. MCC declared the seat allotment result for the stray vacancy round on December 23. Candidates will be able to report till December 28.

MCC had given an option to the candidates who did not want to participate in the NEET 2022 stray round counselling to opt out in order to prevent forfeiture of the security deposit.

Seat-allotted candidates will have to carry their original documents for verification and pay the college fee during the reporting. Candidates who fail to do so will have their admission cancelled, MCC had informed.

  • Class 10 certificate and mark sheet (for date of birth)

  • ID proof (Aadhar/PAN Card/Driving License/Passport)

MCC also issued a list of candidates who joined through All India Quota (AIQ) or state quota counselling from the second round till the mop-round. Candidates mentioned in the list were removed before the allotment process of NEET UG counselling stray vacancy round in compliance to the directions of the Supreme Court.

VITEEE 2023: The exam was earlier scheduled to be held from April 15 to 21 which has been rescheduled to be held from April 17 to 21, 2023.

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has revised the exam schedule for VIT Engineering Entrance Examination 2023 (VITEEE) 2023. Candidates can download the revised exam schedule at the official website – viteee.vit.ac.in 

The exam was earlier scheduled to be held from April 15 to 21 which has been rescheduled to be held from April 17 to 21, 2023. The exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long. Candidates can appear for VITEEE only once.

The application process is ongoing and the last date to apply is March 31. Candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1350. Applicants should be born on or after July 1, 2001, to be eligible to apply.

Candidates applying for engineering courses should get a minimum aggregate score of 60 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in the intermediate exam.

There is a relaxation for students belonging to SC/ST categories as well as applicants belonging to UT of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and North-Eastern states. The qualifying percentage is 50 per cent for the aforementioned students. Candidates should bring certificates to prove the same.

The Consortium of National Law Universities will conduct the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) on December 18, 2022, in offline mode. Candidates can download CLAT 2023 admit card by visiting the official website. The CLAT 2023 admit card will release on December 06, 2022. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities in India.

CHECK CLAT EXAM PATTERN

The UG-CLAT 2023 will focus on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates. The UG-CLAT 2023 will be a 2-hour test, with 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. These questions would be divided into the following 5 subjects:

  • English Language
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Techniques

CBSE asks its affiliated schools to promote, create innovative ideas and register a maximum number of participants for Pariksha pe Charcha 2023.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) sends a notification to all it’s affiliated schools to participate in an online creative writing competition. The competition will conclude on December 30, 2022 in order to select participants that will be featured in Pariksha pe Charcha (PPC) 2023 programme.

The contest is open to students of classes 9 to 12 along with parents and teachers. The participants will have an opportunity to be invited to frame questions to be addressed to prime minister, Narendra Modi. National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will shortlist questions that may feature in the programme.

The participants that have asked questions in the previous edition of the PPC programme will be invited by media channels to appear in their programmes. Similarly, this year’s chosen participants also have an opportunity to interact with media. In addition to this, about 2,050 winners will also receive a certificate signed by the director of NCERT and a copy of the ‘Exam Warrior’ book written by PM Modi.

 

Therefore, CBSE has requested schools to do the following

  • Schools are to adopt various innovative methods to promote this programme that aims to reduce exam stress among students, teachers and parents.
  • Use #PPC2023 on their social media handles to disseminate information about the event. Schools can also make posters, creatives and videos among other activities. The selected creatives ideas and videos will be exhibited on the MyGov platform.
  • The schools are instructed to display such creatives in their premises.
  • Finally, the schools must ensure registrations of as many participants to the online creative writing competition for an opportunity to get selected for the event.

CBSE has also released a list of suggestive themes for the creative writing competition for teachers, students and parents including know your freedom fighters, our culture is our pride, my book my inspiration, save environment for future, my life, my health, my startup dream, STEM education and toys and games of learning among various others.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had released the intimation slip for the test city of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE) 2022. It can be checked and downloaded using the application number and password, date of birth on the website.

For the academic year 2022–2023, NTA will hold the JNUEE 2022 between December 7 and 10. This exam is for admission to JNU’s PhD programme. The field(s) of study, the date, and the assigned city are all included on each candidate’s city intimation slip. The entrance exam will be administered using computer-based testing (CBT) at designated centres across India. The three-hour exam will consist of multiple-choice questions in English medium only. The exam will be split into two sessions, with the first session spanning from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the second from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

The JNUEE is a national-level entrance test for JNU’s doctoral programmes. A viva voce is scheduled for applicants. The CBT score receives a 70 per cent weightage in the final merit list, whereas the viva voce receives a 30 per cent weightage. There is no upper age limit for applying to JNUEE.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) which administers the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is yet to announce the JEE Main 2023 notification date and the dates of exams. The NTA will also announce the number of times JEE Main will be held this year in addition to the registration dates and JEE notification. JEE Main 2023 will be held for BE and Btech (Paper 1) and BArch (Paper 2A) and BPlanning (Paper 2B). The official website jeemain.nta.nic.in will host the JEE Main 2023 dates.

NTA conducted JEE Main exams in two sessions last year –– June and July. The JEE Mains question paper had internal choices within the sections — Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. JEE Main question paper had 30 questions in each subject, divided into two sections. Any change in the JEE Main 2023 syllabus and exam pattern will be announced beforehand and candidates taking the entrance exam will be provided sufficient time to prepare for the exam.

The JEE Advanced 2023 syllabus has been revised for the 2023 exam. As per the new JEE Advanced syllabus, the Physics section includes topics under the broad categories of General Physics, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electromagnetic waves, Optics among others. The Chemistry section covers topics including the States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, and Molecular Structure, among others. The Mathematics section includes Sets, Relations and Functions, Algebra and Matrices.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has asked NTA to re-evaluate the criteria for the JEE Advanced 2023, according to which 2021 applicants are not allowed to take the exam.

The Punjab School of Education (PSEB) has announced board exam dates for classes 10th and 12th as well as the yearly exam dates for classes 5th and 8th. The notification was released on their official website.

The exams for classes 5th and 8th will be held between February and March 2023. For class 5th, the exams will begin on February 16, 2023, and conclude on February 24, 2023. For class 8, the exams will begin on February 20, 2023, and end on March 6, 2023. Board exams for classes 10th and 12th will be conducted between February and April 2023.

The board exams for class 10th will be conducted from March 21, 2023, to April 18, 2023, while the exams for class 12th will be held from February 20 to April 13, 2023. But practical exams of NSQF subjects, Class 12 vocational group subjects, and Class 10 pre-vocational subjects will be held from January 23, 2023, to February 1, 2023, as per the notification. These exams will be held as per Covid-19 guidelines.

The notification also provided contact details for students to reach out in case they require further assistance.
