The first slot of the CAT 2022 exam for admission to postgraduate management programmes has concluded. According to students and experts, the difficulty level of the exam ranged from moderate to lengthy and time-consuming. The candidates found the questions from Quantitative Aptitude (QA) to be moderate. However, they found the diagram questions to be hard.

Sumit Singh Gandhi, CEO of CATKing, called the CAT 2022 exam paper a big surprise. According to Mr. Gandhi, questions from para completion are being asked again in CAT 2022 which were similarly asked in the XAT exam; however, they were not asked in CAT for a really long time. In CAT 2022 slot 1, four sets of five questions were asked from DILR, while modulus-based questions from Algebra were present in the Quantitative section.

Students who took the recent CAT exam noted that the logical reasoning, paragraph and summary questions, data interpretation, jumbled sentences and paraphrasing questions made up the majority of the slot 1 paper. Out of these question types, VARC section questions had more weightage than those from DILR and QA sections, according to student reviews.

IndiaEducation Counselling

The CAT paper pattern remains the same as last year. The IIM CAT question paper will have three sections – VARC, DILR, and QA. Candidates have to solve 66 questions in 120 minutes, with 40 minutes allocated for each section. There is no switching allowed between sections. The question paper consists of both multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and non-MCQs.

The section wise distribution of questions in CAT 2022 is as follows:

– VARC: 24 questions

– DILR: 20 questions

– QA: 22 questions

The marking criteria remains the same as last year, with three marks awarded for correct answers and one mark deducted for wrong answers in MCQs. There is no negative marking for non-MCQs.

Tanzania's IIT might serve as a hub for technology education in Africa, according to the education minister

education news 17 3

According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Tanzania might serve as a hub for technological education in Africa. As it develops a strategy to ensure that the nation’s top engineering universities have a presence on the global stage, the government is considering possibilities including establishing an offshore campus of IIT Madras in Tanzania.

On Friday, Pradhan met with Lela Muhamed Mussa, Zanzibar’s minister of education and vocational training. He also advocated for the establishment of a skill center in Zanzibar.

“India is pleased to support Tanzania’s IIT project. Africa’s center for technical education may be IIT in Tanzania. I proposed the support needed for project implementation and also mentioned India’s willingness to open a center for 21st-century skills in Zanzibar.

“Leela Muhamad Musa pledged of all the necessary support to make our partnership in education and skills more vibrant as well as for Tanzania and Zanzibar’s success.

“NEP is opening up new educational opportunities in India. In a series of tweets, Pradhan claimed, “I encouraged Tanzanian & African kids to study in India.

The Middle-East and South Asian nations have been asking several IITs to set up their campuses. A group led by Dr. K Radhakrishnan, chair of the IIT Council’s standing committee, was established by the Center earlier this year.

A variety of models for establishing the institute could be used depending on the location, such as campuses run by individual IITs, a consortium of IITs and HEIs, or an individual or group of IITs working with a reputable host university.

Given that the current IIT Act does not allow for the establishment of an IIT outside of the country, the panel has advised developing a generic system similar to IIT, NIT, or IISER, under which a number of institutes can be founded.

Among the other recommendations made by the panel are the renaming of IITs to “India International Institute of Technology,” sending faculty members from esteemed technology institutions here on deputations abroad, royalties from the institute established abroad for using the IIT brand name, and safeguards for preserving the IIT brand over the long term and in situations where the institute established abroad does not succeed for any reason.

CBSE Notifies Schools to Submit Section Increase Requests by December 31

Nitin Varma

Nitin Varma

The schools have until December 31 to submit an application for an increase in the number of sections via the SARAS site.

education news 14 1

In order to avoid problems with filling out the list of candidates (LOC) and other associated tasks, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recommended schools that have fewer sections due to land availability request more sections. The School Affiliation Re-Engineered Automation System (SARAS) portal will accept applications from CBSE-affiliated schools through December 31, 2022. The board made this choice to avoid any last-minute problems while entering the student’s information.

As the schools encountered issues filling out student information at the time of registration, candidates in grades IX, X, XI, and XII were mentioned in the official CBSE notification. Therefore, schools may apply until December 31, 2022, to address this issue.

IndiaEducation Counselling

According to the quantity of land the school has access to, the CBSE has reaffirmed that schools are expected to operate the number of sections that fall within the authorized number of sections. Despite the fact that some schools have more property, it has been discovered that the number of sections they run is less than the total area that is available to the school.

As enrollment grows over time, these schools might need to add new sections. These schools might encounter problems submitting the LOCs given the number of sections currently available. This could make things more difficult for both the candidates and the schools.
