According to the official statement, students who passed their class 10 exams with the Tamil Nadu board would not need to fill up their grades at this time because the Covid pandemic merely allowed them to receive a “pass” comment. The NTA reports that they have received numerous complaints from Tamil Nadu students who say that no exams were held for the class of 2021’s class 10 owing to the Covid outbreak, leaving no marks on the marksheet and the word “pass” put in all subjects with a disclaimer.

“To support the students from Tamilnadu state, it has been decided that during the filling up of the online application Form of CUET (UG) – 2023, when candidate selects ‘Passing year’ as 2021 with ‘School Board’ as Tamilnadu State Board of School Examination (Secondary), the Result Mode field will be disabled and the associated fields for Marks / CGPA will be invisible for Tamilnadu State Board candidates who have passed their Class 10 in year 2021,” the NTA notice stated.

The University of Delhi’s college debuted a new logo, the “kulgeet” (college anthem), and an alumni website on its 124th Founder’s Day.

Delhi University

Delhi University: The Hindu College at Delhi University, which was founded as a result of the nation’s freedom movement, celebrated its 124th anniversary on Wednesday.

Since its humble origins in 1899 at the historic Kinari Bazar, the college has lived up to its motto, “steered by the past, shaping the future,” to become one of the country’s most sought-after schools.

The University of Delhi’s college debuted a new logo, the “kulgeet” (college anthem), and an alumni website on its 124th Founder’s Day.

Plans for the following year were likewise made public by the college. Amitabh Kant, the G-20 Sherpa for India, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

The tagline of the new college logo is “steered by the past, moulding the future.” It reflects the college’s rich heritage and dedication to innovation and advancement by fusing a drawing of the original college building with some current campus infrastructure.

Starting on Wednesday, the logo will be prominently displayed on all letterheads, websites, and business stationery.

An official college anthem was published on the occasion. Dr. Harish Naval, a former student and member of the faculty, wrote it.

The song, which will be played at upcoming campus events, is a poignant tribute to the college and its history.

Additionally, there were sneak peeks of two planned publications: “Sansmarono Mein Hindu,” an anthology of historical anecdotes and images about the college, and “Viraasat,” a coffee table book documenting the history of Hindu College. These books will be a useful resource for anybody curious about the college’s extensive history.

The college also announced the opening of a specific alumni site that would assist alumni in maintaining contact with both the college and one another.

The site promises a plethora of brand-new capabilities, including a special alumni mapping feature, and will be a priceless tool for the college’s enormous network of graduates.

Kant brought up the ten-year-old friendly competitions between Hindu College and St Stephen’s College, which is located across the street, during his speech.

“I am truly delighted to be in the college I was a frequent visitor to when I studied at St Stephen’s College. I have to say Hindu College has excelled…Hindu has done much better than St Stephen’s if we see the ranking. It has emerged as a centre of intellectual and political debate,” Kant said.

Students and faculty members applauded loudly when Kant spoke.

“On behalf of the whole Hindu College family, I extend a very warm greeting to you all to the 124th Founder’s Day celebrations of the college,” stated Hindu College Principal Anju Srivastava. In the storied Kinari Bazar (Chandni Chowk), Krishna Dassji Gurwale established the college in 1899, with eminent Delhi residents serving as trustees.

The college moved to a Rai Bahadur Sultan Singh-donated structure in Kashmiri Gate in 1908, and a hostel was erected. Since its foundation, the institution has maintained a close connection to the national independence movement; several trustees and members of the Governing Body are actively engaged in the Swadeshi and Boycott movements.

In 1922, the college changed its affiliation from Panjab University to Delhi University.

An official claimed that the Indian independence movement, which was gaining momentum as the nineteenth century came to an conclusion, was the inspiration behind the college.

In 1953, the college relocated to its present site. Classrooms, labs, a library, sports facilities, a seminar room, an auditorium, computer rooms, a restaurant, and housing halls are all located on the campus’ 25 acres.

One of the most permanent and recognizable impressions of Delhi as a center of education today is its brick-red exterior, which is surrounded by broad lawns and flowerbeds.

IIT Lifestyle: Picking IIT Bombay was a best decision, Says a student

You get exposure and opportunities during college. The professors are academically focused, and they offer tools and support to help us be the best in our fields. When it comes to inviting people to join their research and projects, they are welcoming.

IIT Bombay

I chose to major in civil engineering because I want to work for my family’s construction and development company in the future. I put a lot of effort into my studies, earning an All India Rank of 3154 in JEE Advanced and a 99.1 percentile in JEE Main. I could have chosen Civil Engineering at any of the other IITs, but after consulting with the seniors, I settled on IIT Bombay.

One of the best things that has ever happened to me, in fact. Beyond my expectations are the people, the culture, and the exposure I have experienced since enrolled in IIT Bombay.

IIT Bombay is constantly humming with activity. This campus is just like the city—it never sleeps. There is constantly activity. I play basketball for my university and have been to other IIT campuses in Delhi and Kanpur. Although both campuses are fantastic, ours is more vibrant. There is no set time for entering or leaving this area.

You can still see students outside in the early morning hours, either playing or just strolling. Never a dull moment, it seems. It exists in its own world. There are approximately 10,000 students enrolled in various courses, plus professors and other faculty members.

I was a little hesitant to live in a big city because I’m from a small town in Ranchi, India. I did, however, also want to attend one of the best schools in the nation. I completed my first three semesters entirely online. In November 2021, after the Covid-19 wave had passed, I started college. When I first came here, I quickly made a lot of friends with people from all different ages, social classes, and fields of interest.

I was a quiet teen before enrolling at IIT Bombay. But I have become much more social over the past three years. I have friendship groups from my class, my hostel, and the basketball team. Our BTech batch in civil engineering has 160 students.

What my day looks like at IIT Bombay

My experience at IIT Bombay is very similar to how it is portrayed in movies. At 8:00 am, it starts. Many people in the hostel stay up late and rush to the 8:30 am lectures. Nevertheless, no one skips class because of our strict attendance policy (80% attendance is required in almost all subjects/courses). Typically, classes last until seven o’clock in the evening.

You get exposure and opportunities during college. The professors are academically focused, and they offer tools and support to help us be the best in our fields. When it comes to inviting people to join their research and projects, they are welcoming. If you want to do research and study core subjects, IITs are a good choice. As teaching assistants, we also have MTech and PhD students. If I want to apply for a master’s degree here, I can do so in my third year and join the five-year integrated program.

IIT Bombay given me some gems

There is a ton more to do besides academics. I joined the civil engineering clubs and the sports council during my first two years. Now that I spend the majority of my time studying or playing basketball, I am no longer a member of these clubs. The college team’s practices are currently in full swing. Every day, we devote three to four hours. At 10 o’clock at night, I finally have some alone time. After practice is over, I either study or hang out with my friends. All of the students would gather in one room to study in groups before exams.

Holi, Diwali, and Christmas are all celebrated together as part of the fantastic hostel culture. The parties are held in such a lavish manner. You start to miss home less as a result of all these things. I believe the connections and friendships I have made here will last a lifetime.

IIT Bombay Placements: Overseas package is unjustified, reveals study

Satish Kumar

Satish Kumar

“An annual salary of 4,600,000 Japanese Yen converted using the regular exchange rate is equivalent to 3,000,000 INR, whereas the same salary conversion performed using the PPP exchange rate shows the equivalent salary to be around 800,000 INR,” the study says.

IIT Bombay Placements

IIT Bombay Placements: According to a review of IIT Bombay’s placement data from the past five years, there are few differences between offers from abroad and those from within the country when the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) currency rate is included. “The hype surrounding the one crore plus package is thus unwarranted,” the study adds.

The report shows that the median values of foreign and domestic packages differ by less than 10% based on PPP exchange rates.

IndiaEducation Counselling

The Centre for Policy Studies at IIT Bombay’s Namit Agrawal, Sailakshmi Sreenath, Shishir K Jha, and Anurag Mehra conducted the study. Instead of converting foreign currencies to their Indian equivalents using the financial exchange rate, it investigates the PPP rate, which is the rate at which the currency of one country would have to be translated to that of the other country to buy the same quantity of goods and services in each country.

Read about IIT Bombay Placement 2023

Underlining the PPP rate as a more “realistic way” of assessment, the study says: “Purchasing power parities (PPP) are the rates of currency conversion that are based on equalising the purchasing power of different currencies by accounting for the differences in price levels between countries. Official PPP conversion rates are based on assorted data.”

It provides an illustration to highlight the variations between the two approaches.

“An annual salary of 4,600,000 Japanese Yen converted using the regular exchange rate is equivalent to 3,000,000 INR, whereas the same salary conversion performed using the PPP exchange rate shows the equivalent salary to be around 800,000 INR,” the study says.

In order to analyze the kind of employment undergraduate students at their institution choose, researchers looked at placement data from IIT Bombay from 2014 to 2018. They considered placement data from 2,109 students, with replies from 269 of them. The highest median gross compensation was Rs 76,68,000 at IIT Bombay in 2017. After PPP adjustments, the median wage is Rs 21,57,624. According to the report’s authors, the use of the median wage for comparison was made possible because “extraordinarily high or low earnings, which only a few students earn, do not considerably influence the value of the median salary.”

The study also examined the buzz generated by major international offers during IIT Bombay campus placements.

With a few exceptions, domestic salaries are equivalent to those paid abroad, according to the study.

“All overseas offers made during campus placements require the students to relocate the base,” said Mehra, the study’s lead author. This means that the cost of his or her existence in a foreign place must be taken into account. If the candidate were to be earning that wage while residing in India, the straightforward multiplication way of equivalizing would have made sense.

The report claims that the “promised remuneration packages include base salary, performance bonus, joining bonus, and frequently stock units.” The sum of the fixed and variable components is the published package value. Since the Placement Cell’s salary package data does not reflect the real in-hand pay, these details are not reported by the media, which instead reports the big numbers, giving the public the impression that the wage packages are greatly inflated. The study’s data also reveals that the number of overseas offers has not exceeded 10% of all placements and that they are less varied in their streams than domestic offers, with the “lion’s share of the offers going to Computer Science (CSE) and Electronics (EE) branches.”

For the first time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed the officials in charge of the UP board exams that the District Magistrates would appoint Static Magistrates and Sector Magistrates at each examination centre. After the exam is over, they will need to report to the District Inspector of Schools and the District Magistrate so that daily activities can be observed. However, for the first time, a room separate from the Principal’s room will be created to ensure strict oversight of the exam papers.

Additionally, a CCTV will be installed for round-the-clock monitoring of the copies, which will be stored in a cupboard with a double lock. After being appointed as room inspectors in each district, they will receive rigorous instruction prior to the exam. The district will also serve as a training ground for the sector magistrates, static magistrates, center administrators, and external center administrators. On the other hand, those found interfering with the examination and negatively impacting the system will face strict action under the Gangster Act, and their property will be seized.

CM Yogi has ordered that a separate secure room be built for the protection of the exam papers, with two armed policemen stationed there all the time, monitoring CCTV. Additionally, he has demanded that voice-enabled CCTV, DVR, router devices, and high-speed broadband connections be installed at the examination centres.

UP Board exams 2023: Barcodes and Monograms on the answer sheets

Additionally, the students will receive answer sheets with barcodes and monograms on them. To limit the possibility of manipulating answer sheets, measures are being taken. Additionally, using the barcodes on some answer sheets, the Board will randomly check them, tightening the noose around anyone caught copying. The UP Board exams will require more than three crore answer sheets. Model Exam questions for classes 10 and 12.
