IIT Outside The Country May Be Renamed As Indian International Institute Of Technology

IIT 1

IIT Delhi is considering the options of setting up a campus in UAE, IIT Madras is exploring potential sites for campuses in Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Tanzania. The Centre had earlier this year appointed a 17-member committee headed by IIT Council standing committee chairperson Dr. K Radhakrishnan to investigate these options.

IITs, or India International Institutes of Technology, may soon have offshore campuses, according to sources. These campuses would be free to decide their student strength, but the percentage of Indian students attending would have to be less than 20%. This is an exciting development for IITs, as it provides more opportunities for students to study abroad.

A committee set up by the Centre for the global expansion of IITs has submitted its recommendations. It has been suggested that the ownership of starting an IIT abroad should rest with the particular higher educational institute (HEI).

There should be a provision to depute faculty from an existing IIT to an institute abroad. This would be particularly beneficial during the formative years of the new institute, as it would gain valuable experience from the faculty here. Several IITs have been receiving requests from the Middle East and South Asian countries to set up their campuses.

While IIT Delhi is mulling over the option of setting up a campus in UAE, IIT Madras is considering expanding to Sri Lanka, Nepal and Tanzania. The Centre had earlier this year appointed a 17-member committee headed by IIT Council standing committee chairperson Dr K Radhakrishnan to explore these options.

A panel has recommended the creation of a generic system of institutes called IIT, NIT or IISER, which would establish a series of institutes overseas. The current IIT Act does not provide for setting up an IIT outside of India.

The suggested name is sufficiently close to IIT with “international” added to clarify that the institute is located outside India. This difference in name with sufficient similarity will allow the newly established IITs to evolve their own identity and ethos while drawing up the strength of existing IITs.

The panel has recommended that there could be more than one model of establishing the institute, depending on the specific location. For example, in the UK, a collaboration with a reputed host university will be preferred. However, the sources said that this collaboration has to be entered with care so that the expectations and responsibilities of participating IITs are aligned with those of the host university.

The number of students in a given programme needs to be large enough to make the course economically viable, but the institute gets to decide the exact number. The panel recommended that the percentage of Indian students in these institutions should be less than 20 per cent.

A Team Of Scientists From IIT Guwahati Has Developed A Biodegradable And Edible Coating

IIT GUWAHTI

Farmers carry out research to help keep their products safe and extend their shelf-life. This helps the country meet the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets of reducing food losses in production and supply chains.

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, led by Professor Vimal Katiyar, have developed an edible coating that can extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. The coating is made from natural ingredients and is applied to the surface of the fruit or vegetable.

The research team was led by Professors Vimal Katiyar and Vaibhav V Goud from IIT Guwahati’s Department of Chemical Engineering and CoE-SusPol. They were joined by their research scholars Ms. Kona Mondal, Ms. Tabli Ghosh, Ms. Mandavi Goswami, Ms. Shikha Sharma, and Sonu Kumar.

This new coating material has the potential to prevent food wastage and was recently tested on a variety of vegetables. These vegetables included potatoes, tomatoes, green chili peppers, strawberries, mandarin oranges, apples, pineapples, and kiwifruits. The coating was found to keep these vegetables fresh for an extended period of time – up to two months. This new coating material has the potential to revolutionize the way we think about food preservation.

The IIT Guwahati researchers have developed a way to help reduce food losses along the production and supply chains by working with other people who specialize in specific areas related to food production. Their development could help the country meet the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 12.3, which is aimed at reducing food losses along the production and supply chains.

The IIT Guwahati team used a combination of micro-algae extract and polysaccharides to produce protective, edible films for coating fruits and vegetables. They also tested the biosafety of these coatings by treating BHK-21 cells with the materials. The tests showed that the coatings were nontoxic and could be safely used as edible food packaging materials.

The biodegradable coating was developed by Professor Vimal Katiyar and his team at the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Guwahati. The coatings are mass-produced, stable to light and heat, and edible. They do not add unfavorable properties to the food product and retain the texture, color, appearance, flavor, nutritional value, and microbial safety of the fruit or vegetable. This coating, therefore, extends the shelf life of the product to several weeks or months.

This research was published in many journals, some of which are the Royal Society of Chemistry Advances, Food Packaging and Shelf Life, Food Chemistry, IJBM, ACS-JAFC, and American Chemical Society’s Food Science and Technology.

A school teacher in Mizoram’s Lunglei district has been arrested for allegedly sending home a six-year-old girl from school after stripping off her school uniform, police said on Saturday.

The accused teacher Lalbiakengi was arrested on Saturday following a complaint by a child protection unit, the police said.

The School Education department has served a show cause notice to the teacher, who was working at a government school at Thangpui village in south Mizoram’s Lunglei district.

The state’s apex student body Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) also demanded her termination. The incident took place at a government-run primary school at Thangpui village on August 25.

The child’s mother Nancy Lalnunsangi said that her daughter, who was studying in class-I, had been physically assaulted by a boy at the school on August 22.

“My daughter was beaten black and blue by her classmate for which she vomited blood and felt abdominal pain. However, as she was so eager to go back to school with the school uniform which she wore for the first time this year, she went back the next day only to be beaten again by the same boy,” she told PTI.

Angry that her daughter was again beaten by the same body, she went to the school and scolded the boy.

Subsequently, the school teacher called her over the phone and rebuked her citing she breached the school rules for going to the school and scolding the boy, Nancy said.

The teacher even complained in a WhatsApp group, she said.
“I was so angry and frustrated that I went back to the school on August 25 to take my child along with her brother. At this juncture, the teacher intervened and told me if I were to take home my child I should leave her uniform behind as there is another student who needed one. Then, she stripped my daughter off her uniform in front of her classmates and let her go with only her underwear,” Nancy said.

Meanwhile, Mizoram School Education Minister Lalchhandama said that a show cause notice has been served to the teacher a day after the incident to give an explanation.

For The First Time, India Has Sent More Students To The UK Than China

JEE Advanced 2022 Anskey Key Available On Expert Research And Students Responses. 6

India has now sent more students to study in the United Kingdom than any other nationality, according to today’s Immigration Statistics Report. The report shows an increase in study visas for Indians compared to the pre-pandemic years.

The statistics show that in the year ending June 2022, there were 486,868 Sponsored study visas granted. This is a massive increase from the 202,147 granted in 2019. The report attributes this increase to “both a recovery from lower numbers during the Covid-19 pandemic and an increase in the pre-pandemic period.”

The number of Sponsored study visas granted in the year ending June 2022 is significantly higher than any other year since this time series began in 2005. The number of student visas granted in 2022 is almost double that of the previous highest number granted in 2010. This surge in international students coming to study in the UK is likely due to the UK’s world-renowned educational institutions and the opportunities they offer.

There was a steady increase in sponsored study grants from September 2018 to March 2020, peaking at almost 3 lakh. However, this was followed by a sharp decrease due to the pandemic, with September 2020 recording the lowest number of granted visas. The report indicates that the numbers have since recovered and reached a new high of 486,868 in the year ending March 2022.

The UK has seen a rise in the number of Indian students choosing to study there, coinciding with the rollout of reforms outlined in the National Education Policy, 2020. The goal of these reforms is to retain talent within India. The government is taking steps to invite reputed global universities to set up campuses here, as well as improve the standards of domestic educational institutions.

On Saturday, August 27, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory School in Najafgarh. The Chief Minister said that the school would help students better understand the entrance examination patterns of the various armed forces.

One year ago, there was no Sainik school in Delhi. But through the tireless efforts of many, preparations began, and the school was completed within that year. At the event, the chief minister said that he was grateful to those who had made the dream possible on behalf of Delhi and the country. He said that education and other facilities are accessible at the school, which has always been his goal–an education system where the rich and the poor can study together.

He said that retired officers would coach the students. “I found out that the students are from different types of schools. There will be psychometric tests, personality development workshops, and mock tests to prepare students for the armed forces,” Kejriwal said. He said the school was named after Bhagat Singh so that students could learn from his life.”

At 23, Kejriwal participated in the freedom struggle and gave his life. Today’s youngsters at that age are worried about getting a girlfriend, he said, adding that they should imbibe his ideals and learn from his life.

The residential school will admit students to classes 9 and 11. There will be 200 seats – 100 in each class. The students will be taught by retired army officers, navy officers and the air force.

The aptitude test for admission to Class 9 will be conducted on March 27, and the enrolment test for Class 11 will be held the next day, as announced by the school’s principal. In the second phase, interviews will be conducted. The students will be taught by retired officers of the army, navy and air force.

RTI reveals two-thirds of Delhi government schools do not teach science in classes 11-12.

New Delhi: Only one-third of schools under the Delhi government are teaching science subjects to students in classes 11 and 12, a reply to an RTI query has revealed.

JEE Advanced 2022 Anskey Key Available On Expert Research And Students Responses. 2 2

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in its 2015 Delhi Assembly election manifesto promised to build 500 new schools in the city and opened just 63 new schools between February 2015 and May 2022, according to the RTI.

The Education Department of the Delhi government gave the information in response to an application filed under the Right To Information (RTI) Act on behalf of PTI.

The RTI sought information on the number of Delhi government schools teaching science and commerce subjects in classes 11 and 12 as well as the number of new schools opened by the government between February 2015 and May 2022 in the city.

While the information related to 326 schools was obtained through the RTI application, the data of other schools was collected from the website of the Directorate of Education.

A total of 838 higher secondary schools have data available, out of which only 279 schools teach science subjects and 674 schools offer commerce subjects to students of classes 11 and 12.

That is, about 66 percent of the government schools in the city do not teach science subjects while about 19 percent do not teach commerce subjects in the two classes.

According to the reply, the condition of schools in the central district in the national capital is the worst, with only four of the 31 higher secondary schools teaching science and 10 schools teaching commerce subjects.

A Public Interest Litigation was filed in the Delhi High Court in 2017 over the non-availability of science and commerce subjects in Delhi government schools, which said that the allocation of subjects of science and commerce has been done in an “unequal manner”, which cannot be justified and it is unfair to the students of the area.

Advocate Yusuf Naki, who filed the petition, said, “On my petition, the Delhi High Court had issued notice to the Delhi government, in response to which the government had filed an affidavit, saying that it would start teaching science and commerce subjects in about 50 schools. Thereafter, the court disposed of the petition.” According to Naki, the government had then said in its reply that science subjects were taught in 291 government schools.

Once released, registered candidates will be able to download their admit cards at the official CUET PG website — cuet.nta.nic.in.

This year, the CUET PG 2022 exams are scheduled to be conducted between September 1 and 11. “We want to ensure that students do not face any problems in reaching their exam center, so according to the pattern we follow, we released the city intimation link earlier so that students could make their travel plans. Now, we will release the admit cards by late evening today,” the UGC Chief told. The exams will be conducted in two shifts — the morning shift will be held from 10 am till 12 pm, and the afternoon shift between 3 pm and 5 pm.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) had announced the common entrance test for admission to postgraduate programs in 42 central universities in the upcoming academic year. However, unlike CUET-UG, the universities are not bound to adopt the CUET-PG for postgraduate admissions.

Several central universities have taken up CUET PG for admissions including JNU, and Pondicherry University. However, universities such as DU, and Jamia Millia Islamia will not be adopting CUET PG this year.
