NABARD –The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development facilitates credit flow to promote:

    • Agriculture
    • Small scale industry
    • Cottage and village industries such as handicrafts and other rural crafts. 

Jobs abound in economics, financial and banking services, insurance, geology, forestry, animal husbandry, dairy, and engineering.

NABARD Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates must be prepared to serve in rural areas in the initial years of their career.
    • Should be below 30 years of age
    • PG in Business Management in concerned or related field such as:
      • Hydrogeology, Geology or Applied Geology
      • Forestry
      • Animal Husbandry or Dairy Farming
      • Agricultural Engineering
      • Economics
    • Recruitment tests are held at state levels for clerical posts for graduates

The incumbent must have an orientation towards rural India. NABARD strives to promote rural development and strengthening of rural institutions and encompassing research and consultancy in the field of rural and agricultural areas. The candidates must be prepared to serve in rural areas for initial years of their career.

NABARD Recruitment: Qualifications & Procedure

Development Officer – Grade ‘B’ Examination

    • Qualifications: Master’s degree in Economics/Agricultural Economics (50%), Ph.D., desirable.
    • Age: 24-32 years, relaxable for certain categories as per rules.
    • Subjects for Examination: Preliminary & Main Examination.
    • Preliminary Examination: (One objective type paper): General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
    • Main Exam: Two Papers
      • Paper I: General English & General Awareness
      • Paper II: Economic and Social Problems.

Assistant Development Officer – Grade ‘A’ Examination

    • Qualifications: Degree/Master’s Degree (50%)
    • Age: 21-26 years. Relax-able for certain categories as per rules.
    • Subjects for Examination: Preliminary & Main Examination.
    • Preliminary Examination: (One Objective type paper): General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
    • Main Exam: Two Papers
      • Paper I: General English & General Awareness
      • Paper II: Economic and Social Problems.

Summer trainees who study the core competencies of NABARD may be also interviewed. These trainees are usually academically accomplished and they proved have provided fresh perspective from the studies and projects they have undertaken on areas of interest to NABARD. 

NABARD Job Prospects

Candidates usually move from rural to urban areas as they grow in their jobs to mid-level positions. Private banks look to hire in rural areas these days, too.
