BPSC 68th CCE marking scheme

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) announced on Tuesday that it would be making some changes to the exam pattern and marking scheme of the 68th Combined Competitive Preliminary and Mains (BPSC 68th CCE Prelims, Mains) examination. These changes include a reduction in marks for the optional paper of the Mains exam, as well as negative marking for all questions in the Prelims exam.

The optional paper in the 68th Mains examination will carry only 100 marks, as per the official notice. Further, the optional paper in the Mains exam will be Multiple-Choice question (MCQ) based, the commission said.

Thus, the marking scheme in the 68th Mains will be:

  • General Hindi: 100
  • General Studies 1: 300
  • General Studies 2: 300
  • Essay: 300
  • Optional paper: 100

While all candidates must qualify in the General Hindi paper to be eligible for the merit list, only the general studies 1, 2 and essay papers will be considered. This means that the optional paper will not be considered for merit.

However, all candidates are still required to qualify in the optional paper, as stated in the notice by the BPSC.

Negative Marking in all questions of Prelims Examination

According to the BPSC, negative marking will be applied to all 150 questions in the Prelims exam uniformly. This means that for each correct answer, candidates will receive 1 mark, and for each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from their total score.

In addition, the BPSC has announced that the deadline for applications has been extended to December 30. Candidates who are interested in taking the 68th Prelims exam can apply on bpsc.bih.nic.in.
