This year, according to the official NTA schedule, the JEE Main 2023 Session 1 exams are scheduled to take place on January 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 1. Previously, an exam was also scheduled for January 27, but it was cancelled as candidates might face travel issues after January 26. NTA chief Vineet Joshi stated that one of the reasons behind this date change was Prime Minister Modi’s Pariksha Pe Charcha 2023 which was scheduled for January 27. avoid any collision, he explained.

From the date of the exam to the eligibility criterion, this year’s JEE Main exam was surrounded by controversy. Candidates claimed that the National Testing Agency did not give them enough time to prepare and pointed out that their pre-board exams, practical exams and vivas were clashing with the engineering entrance exam. In addition, students raised the issue of bringing back the eligibility criterion of 75 per cent marks in class 12 board exams for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and College Funda ional Trainings (CFTIs). Now apart from an All-India Rank (AIR) for each candidate on JEE Main, a student must either have scored 75 per cent or above in class 12 board exam or appear in top 20 percentile candidates of respective board exam result.
