Entrance Exams for Studying Abroad

Going abroad for further studies has always been regarded as an enriching and challenging experience. Along with a rewarding career and better future the students also get to experience new cultures, customs and ideas that mould their personalities as a whole.
Depending upon the level and course of study, students need to take one or more entrance exams to study abroad for academic programs.
More and more Indian students are going abroad to study year after year – mainly because they’re unable to get a seat in a college of their choice for a course they want. The UNESCO 2012 statistics show that there were 1.89 lakh Indian students studying abroad. As of 2016, this number is estimated to be at least 2.5 lakh. Listed below are the most important entrance examinations that enable students from India planning to study abroad, to seek admission in courses offered by foreign universities:

PTE (Pearson Language Test): English Proficiency test that is accepted widely in universities of United States, Australia and United Kingdom.

4. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT): Test to asses one’s analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading in standard written English.
5. Graduate Record Examination (GRE): Most widely accepted graduate admission test.
6. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): One of the top English proficiency tests widely accepted across various countries.
7. Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration Test (CEMAT): Conducted by the Indira Gandhi National Open University.
8. Medical College Admission Test (MCAT): Multiple-choice test to assess your problem solving, critical thinking, and knowledge of natural, social and behavioral concepts and principles.
9. Law School Admission Test (LSAT): Standard measure of reading and verbal reasoning skills required in law schools of various countries.
10. American College Testing (ACT): Standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions in the United States.
11. Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): Canada’s trusted English Language test for study.
12. Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) Exam: Part of the University of Cambridge.
13. Cambridge English: Proficiency Test (CPE): English proficiency test for Cambridge English.
14. Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE): Test of general language competency.
15. Advanced Placement (AP) Exams: College level exams for high school students for placement in well-known universities.
