IIM Sirmaur - MBA Admission Criteria 2017-2019

IIM Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh is the newest management institute under the Indian Institute of Management brand. The institution is being mentored by one of the top most business schools in India – the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. The Lucknow IIM has been known for successfully mentoring two other IIMs in the past – IIM Rohtak and IIM Kashipur.
Campus
The classes for 2017-2019 batch shall begin with 60 seats by August 2017 at a temporary campus in the Himachal Institute of Technology, near Dental College in Paonta Sahib. However, the new campus shall be set up in the next two years’ time. The temporary location of the campus would entail sufficient accommodation facility for faculty as well as students.
It would take about 3-4 hours windy road journey for reaching the campus from the nearest railway station. Dhaula Kuan, a village in Paonta Sahib Tehsil in Sirmaur District of Himachal Pradesh State, is located 39 Kms towards East from District head quarters Nahan and 98 Kms from State capital Shimla. Dehradun Railway Station is closest and just about 60 Kms away from upcoming IIM Sirmaur. However, closest airport is over 100 kms away.

Programs Offered
IIM Sirmaur would be offering the standard PGP course to begin with.
Since the recruitment of full-time faculty is a long process, faculty members from IIM Lucknow would be engaged in teaching at IIM Sirmaur. This would include some visiting faculty selected by IIM Lucknow for meeting their exacting standards. However, the overall quality as well as functionality of PGP would be with the direct involvement of IIM Lucknow for a period of three years’ time. The institution is likely to offer the standard specialisations in Human resource, Marketing and Finance. However, more details shall be available on its site very soon.
Course Fee
The tuition fees for IIM Sirmour is Rs.9 lakhs for two years. At the time of joining, students will have to pay Rs.50,000 whereas the fee breakup would be given when one gets the admission letter.
Admission Criteria & Process
Students seeking admission to the institute for 2017-2019 would be considered on the basis of performance in CAT 2016. While the overall percentile for General candidates is 80 plus, OBC & SC, ST candidates may be able to get admission between 65 to 75 percentile. The second phase of admission involves candidates getting an email from IIM Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. Students would be given a link to the registration page where they must reconfirm and express their wish to pursue their candidature for the PGP in management. The institution will be using the WAT & PI scores provided by IIM Udaipur that has coordinated the admission process for new IIMs.

The weightage for the final score is as follows: 70% weightage to CAT Score + 10% weightage to WAT scores + 20% weightage of PI scores. Eligibility on all the fronts would be an essential component for admission.
