A private school in Bhubaneswar was accused of confining dozens of students to a room for not paying fees on time. 34 students were kept in the room for 5 hours on Monday and were not allowed to eat, drink, or use the toilet.

A group of parents held a sit-in at Ghatikia on Tuesday, calling for stricter consequences for the teachers allegedly responsible for the harassment.

One of the parents said they had already paid tuition fees online, but it didn’t show in the records because of a technical issue. The teachers rejected the kids’ request to call their parents and tell them they were confined because their tuition fees hadn’t been paid on time. The school authorities then sent a notice to the students, asking them to give it to their guardians.
