The results for the Combined Universities Entrance Test (CUET) have been declared, with the English paper having the highest number of 100 percentile scorers (8,236) across all CUET subjects. This means that admission to Delhi University’s BA English (Honours) programme will be highly competitive this year. The data also shows that physics and maths, individually, have just half the number of candidates scoring 95 percentile in English.

CUET 2022 Results: The results for the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) have been released and as per data, more candidates have scored 95 percentile and above in English as compared to any other paper. Additionally, English also has the highest number of 100 percentile scorers (8,236 candidates) which implies that getting admission into Delhi University’s BA English (Honours) programme is going to be quite competitive this year.

A total of 3,100 students were enrolled in BA English (Honours) programs across 46 DU-affiliated colleges last year. Admission to these programs is based on students’ performance in Class 12 board exams.

After reviewing the results data of the five subjects with the highest number of test-takers, it is found that physics and mathematics were the most difficult papers while English was the easiest. Approximately 4.85 lakh students took the English paper, 4.5 lakh took the general test, 2.3 lakh took chemistry, 2.29 lakh mathematics and 2.2 lakh physics. CUET UG 2022 offered a total of 61 subjects.

As per the data we have, of the top five subjects, the smallest number of students who scored 95 percentile or above are in physics, while the highest number are in English. In English, 33,627 candidates scored 95 percentile or above. This was followed by 24,030 candidates in the general test, 12,179 in chemistry, 11,942 in mathematics and the least, that is 11,329, in physics.

The cut-off score to reach the 95th percentile is lower for physics and math than it is for English. To hit the 95th percentile in physics, a student would need to score 52.5% or 105 out of 200 marks. The bar is set even lower for math, at 51.5% or 103 out of 200. However, English has a significantly higher cut-off for the 95th percentile, requiring 92.5% or 185 out of 200 marks.

CUET is the primary entrance exam for students hoping to gain admission into an undergraduate program at a centralized university. This year, for the first time ever, DU will not be admitting students based on their Class 12 Board marks. Instead, admission to DU will be based on a candidate’s performance in CUET.

What’s the point of this exam if normalised score are being taken for admission. There is no comparison between a child whose maths n physics marks will be considered as compared to commerce/humanities subjects. There are many courses where all can apply but will be judged by different subject marks which have no comparison whatsoever. Also what’s the point of such humongous process when eventually it’s the same as class 12 subject marks considered for admission in previous years. Either they use percentile or consider marks of subject which the child wishes to persue along with language. How does CUET align with NEP with science student having all the disadvantage especially if they wish to change stream.

Thank God there’s someone who feels the same as me!!
I wanted to change my stream (pcb) as well and thought CUET might be a possibility for it but it’s worse off than admission processes.
Btw I’m literally so confused right now about which stream to choose…i know i should follow my heart and all but it’s just that i cannot find ‘the one’ for me or if even there is ‘the one’. So can u tell me (if u can) what stream have u decided upon?
