Indian students may substitute their GATE score for their GRE score at a few overseas colleges in Singapore and Germany. Verify which overseas colleges recognise the results of this exam.

For PG admissions

One of the most important tests in India is the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). This admission exam measures a candidate’s thorough comprehension of numerous engineering and science undergraduate courses. On behalf of the National Coordination Board, it is carried out yearly by seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Roorkee, Madras, and Kharagpur) and IISc Bangalore.

Despite the fact that the GATE score is only accepted for admission to certain post-graduate programmes in India, several institutions in Singapore and Germany also accept the GATE score as proof of eligibility.

Nanyang Technological University-Singapore

The GATE score is accepted by the Singapore-based university as proof of eligibility for admission to postgraduate programmes. While the GRE and TOEFL scores are required for all foreign and overseas applicants, Indian citizens have the choice of substituting the GATE for the GRE and the TOEFL for the IELTS.

The official website states that the minimum GATE percentile score must be equal to or higher than 90%. The GATE score, however, should not be older than three years.

Technical University of Munich

Indian candidates have the opportunity to submit GATE results in place of the GRE at the technical institution, which is situated in Germany. Furthermore, holders of degrees from Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are exempt from submitting a second GATE qualifying certificate. Also, neither a GATE nor a GRE are required while applying for Studienkolleg.

All master’s degree programmes offered by the Department of Informatics at this university require a GATE score (minimum score: QR 164, AW 4.0). The MSc Mathematics in Data Science, MSc Materials Science and Engineering, MSc Matter to Life: MSc Computational Mechanics, MSc ESCAPE, and MSc Environmental Engineering are other programmes that demand a GATE score.

RWTH Aachen University-Germany

The RWTH Aachen University says that an Indian candidate should have a minimum grade in the school leaving certificate and should have passed additional entrance examinations. However, this is only for masters level programmes at the varsity.

National University of Singapore

Indian applicants are free to take the GATE exam in place of the GRE at NUS Singapore. The university’s rules say that graduates of Indian universities may submit GATE scores in lieu of other credentials.

This applies primarily to masters-level programmes like the Master of Science in Digital Financial Technology, the Master of Science in Information Systems, the Master of Science in Infocomm Security, and the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSc DFinTech).
