Students are seeking additional exams for the JEE Advanced 2022 and a stay on the results declaration. HC directs exam organizers to consider the grievances of students by September 11.
The Bombay High Court has directed the JEE (Advanced) organizing agency to consider the grievances of students within two days. These students have petitioned the court, complaining that there were technical glitches in the exam that was conducted on 28th August. Even though the students are demanding that an additional exam be conducted, the high court said that this is the best it could do.
Justice R N Laddha and Justice Sanjay V Gangapurwala heard the plea filed by Aryan Gupta, Taneshq Gorrakkh Zendey, and 12 other aspirants stating that they faced a lot of problems while answering the questions in the JEE Advanced exam.
According to the advocates Pranjal M Khatavkar, Nitin V Gaware, and S S Kulkarni, representatives of the students, the computer-based test had several technical glitches, including issues with the zoom key that caused a loss of time and left students unable to attempt all the questions. Students wasted a lot of time adjusting their screens and viewing the questions. They further stated that even though the students complained after the first session, the problem persisted in the second one. Because of the technical glitches, students must have received extra time to attempt the question.
Advocate Sneha Prabhu and senior advocate Kevic Setalvad, representing the chairman of JEE Advanced, said that out of 1.6 lakh students who appeared for the exam, only 25 complaints were received on the 2nd and 3rd of September. They claimed that some complaints were received after the provisional answer key was displayed, and they were convinced that they may not fare well. They further added that the organizing agency’s conduct didn’t have any illegality.
Regarding the HC order to consider the complaint made by the students, the lawyers said that the exam brochure mentions a process that enables students to lodge complaints. According to the petitioners, their complaints haven’t been decided yet. As per the HC, the agency has until 10th September to decide on the grievances of the petitioners.

Statement of the advocates Sneha Prabhu and senior advocate Kevic Setalvad, representing the chairman of JEE Advanced that only 25 complaints were received on 2nd and 3rd September is false.
I had informed JEE advanced chairman at 12.39pm on 28th Aug, immediately after the first session about the following two problems faced by my son –
1. Malfunctioning of the mouse
2. Problem of the zoomed in questions
This was followed by emails to IIT Madras (south zone) and IIT Hyderabad. Telephonic complaints were also made to all the three IITs in this regard after the first session.
Complaints were also made to the CMR Medchal campus representatives conducting the examination.
I was informed at the center that my email has been communicated to the administration of CMR Medchal. It was also confirmed by the staff of CMR that the mouse and the monitor both have been changed in the second session.
Efforts were made by me to personally meet and explain the entire issue to the representative of the IIT Hyderabad Prof Prabusankar G.. A message was sent to him through the reception at the Director’s office in CMR Medchal. However, he expressed his inability to meet.
A WhatsApp message and an email was also sent to Prof Prabusankar G. at 5pm on 28th August’22 .
Subsequently after the completion of the 2nd session, I went outside the exam center and met him at 1830 hrs, while he was leaving the exam center with two other colleagues from IIT Hyderabad.
Complaint was also lodged to him in person with a request to examine the mouse used by my son in session 1 of the exam and submit this in the report to the chairman of IIT JEE Advance committee. It was also informed to him that the college administration had confirmed that the mouse was changed in the second session and the same was witnessed by the student also. Prof Prabusankar G. was kind enough to assure me that he will look into it impartially and do justice to the student.
To sum up the issue –
At the CMR Medchal campus in Hyderabad, my son had appeared for his JEE Advanced examination 2022. At the start of session 1, the invigilators had informed the students in the room that any technical difficulty would come at a cost of about 20mins exam time to resolve the issue. This was rather encouraging for students to ask for help and waste their precious exam time.
During the exam, my son started to face issues with the malfunctioning mouse and the issue was compounded as the question palette was zoomed in on the platform.
There were several challenges faced henceforth – While reading the zoomed in questions, the scroll sometimes would not work leading to a lot of time waste. In other times, it would select any radio button itself by simply hovering over it or the over sensitive mouse would hit extra digits in the numerical based questions. This would cause an intended selection of wrong answers, inadvertently hurting the candidate’s score. The student then reached out to the invigilator as he struggled with the mouse and zoom issues. The invigilator neglected the entire issue and said that the zoom in is faced by other candidates as well. The invigilator advised to manage with the current setup itself and the defective mouse issue which was specific to my son was not given due attention.
Post the exam, complaints were filed to Prof Prabusankar G. and the office of IIT Hyderabad, Bombay and Madras.
I received an email from IIT Hyderabad chairman’s office on the night of 28th August asking me to share my mobile number so that the matter can be discussed with me on the following day on 29 Aug’22. However, despite follow ups, there was no call made by them.
Adding to that, despite several email reminders and prayers made to the JEE Advance committee, no action had been taken by the authorities.
In the light of the above, the statement given by the advocates in the hon’ble high court is false and the hon’ble high court is requested to take take serious action on it.
Justice should be all jee advanced students, kyoki sabhi jagah glitch thi ,,paper me font bhut big the ,,aur paper lengthy tha jisse question nhi kr paay, please justice kariy
My daughter also faced the same issue in both sessions. I can say aound 20mins wasted due to scrolling and resolution issues and additional pressure to students.
Computer based Jee advanced test very time taken for answer the questions. I requested to please conduct test again.
I much faced much problem to write Jee advanced fue to computer zoom and more time taken for answer the questions.
My son Surla Navaneeth (Jee Advanced 2022 Registration no B51421054611) has been faced very difficulty in the attempting exam in paper 1&2 due to technical glitch ( high font size of question paper and there is no any option to reduce font size on the screen) . To view of a full question at a time is not possible and faced a big problem in scrolling curser up and down & left and right which consumed more time and he got panic. So, he lost the chance of getting good score.
Hence I request you that please conduct advanced exam once again to my son by considering high font size of question paper
Question very zoom
Digital problem
My aslo faced the same issue high Zoom In because of that many time he has to do scroll up/down and left right and big font size,In such conditions how any can concentrate on question a.d time .
I registered nthe complaint befor answer sheet. It was completely unjustified ans ruined the two years preparation .
See what ever problem persists with you, the same problem will be faced by students all over the country it is not like time is wasted only for you it is wasted for all students
I personally consider those 12 petitioners as incapable towards jee thats why they are complaining otherwise out of 1.6lakhs only 12 students faced problem why?
I request those 12 students to Post their score of jee adv
Jee advance paper that is in CBT is very difficult. In my case questions are not properly mentioned even some words are missing in ques. In maths paper 2 on 28 August some numeric value also missing and that’s why I didn’t even attempt my ques because if I attempt without knowing what the ques says there was a high probability to getting negative marks that’s why I didn’t attempt my maths paper 2 ques
So please it’s humble request to conducting jee advanced 2022 once again
It’s too deficult exam this time so ple consideration marks
