NEET PG 2023: Cut off dispute

NEET-PG 2023, doctors stated that the deadline of March 31 for finishing the internship is likely to disqualify more than half of the current batch.

NEET-PG is likely to be discontinued next year, the government implements a new, two-part exit exam for all MBBS students as the foundation for their registration as doctors and admissions to further PG programs.

“More than 50% of interns ineligible, their careers are at stake,” the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) tweeted. Collectively, (a number of) states are not eligible. will result in last-minute craziness and postponement requests. Resolve this issue quickly.”

“This is actually a chronic issue that has been exacerbated by the pandemic,” said Dr. Rohan Krishnan, national chairperson of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA). Some states consistently put off releasing the results of the MBBS final exams, which prevented students from starting and finishing their required internships on time. However, there have been more academic delays over the last two years as a result of the pandemic.”

According to him, the current cutoff date will prevent “The majority of the 2017 batch from sitting for the PG exams this year.” He recommended extending the deadline to May.

On the Supreme Court’s instructions, the deadline for MBBS students to complete their one-year required internship before taking the PG entrance exam was extended to July 31 of last year. Some students’ internships last year were also postponed as a result of Covid-19 duty during the second wave.

Counselling for 2021 started in February 2022 and the exams for 2022 PG batch were conducted days after counselling for the previous year got over. Although the result was announced within 10 days, it was a few months before the counselling started due to some procedural delays.
