The Northeast gets its first remote pilot training school, located in Guwahati. This is part of the Central government’s plans to transform India into a drone technology hub. For the project, the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (AMTRON) collaborated with IIM-Calcutta Innovation Park and EduRade, a start-up incubated at IIT Guwahati.
The school has been constructed at the ‘Tech City’. Its flying ground covers the Assam Forest School, located in Jalukbari.
Keshab Mahanta, Information Technology Minister of Assam, inaugurated the drone school on Tuesday. He said that after getting training in the school from experts, the students would be able to work in any sector, anywhere in the country. Last year, the first drone training school approved by DGCA was inaugurated in Haryana.
