The fourth phase of the Central University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG was cancelled on Wednesday at 13 centres due to some technical reasons, affecting nearly 8,700 candidates, officials said. The CUET is a gateway for undergraduate admissions in all central universities. The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that examinations scheduled for today were cancelled in 13 centres due to technical difficulties. A total of 91 universities, including all of the country’s central universities, will be offering undergraduate courses through the CUET (UG).
Out of the 13 centres where exams were cancelled, eight are in Delhi, two in Varanasi, and one each in Bihar, Gaya, and Faridabad. Students from several centres said they were told the exam has been cancelled due to technical glitches and server problems. The first phase of these examinations started on July 15 and will continue until August 30. They are being conducted for admission to the first year. The new date for the examinations will be announced on Thursday. However, the proposed date for the examinations is August 25.
On the other hand, some students claimed that their exam began at least two hours later than expected.” We waited for two hours for the exam to begin in the first shift. Some of the students were also sent back citing technical glitches,” said Devyani, a CUET candidate who travelled to Pitampura for her exam.”I am in a total mess. The fourth phase is being conducted and the exam cancellations are still going on. Such an experiment with our careers and academic lives,” another student said.
