Global MBA Rankings 2017 - Top Business Schools in the World

 


Here’s a list of the Top MBA colleges in the world for the year 2019 as per the latest rankings released by the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2019 in the month of January this year.

Instead of France and Singapore secured the top position while Stanford Graduate School of Business came in second this year. At number three is University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) while Harvard Business School comes in 4th. University of Cambridge (Judge Business School) is ranked fifth this year, which is the first time the university has been ranked in the top five schools. This was also the first year that the London Business School has not featured in the top five universities, dropping to sixth position in 2019.

Four MBA colleges from India feature in the top 100 this year. Indian School of Business ranked at 27 secures the top most position in the top Business Schools from India in this featured list. Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad), Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) and Indian Institute of Management (Calcutta) secure the 29th, 49th and 95th positions respectively.

 

The list includes B-schools that offer the traditional two year MBA (such as Harvard Business School, London Business School) as well as MBA institutes that offer the increasingly popular one year MBA (such as Insead and IMD, Switzerland). Criteria for Ranking of Management Colleges and Other Details

The programmes shortlisted for the FT rankings are evaluated across a wide range of 20 different criteria which includes the average starting salaries of graduates, diversity of staff, board members, students by gender, nationality, the MBA’s international reach, and value for money. The complete list of criteria is given below.

For colleges to participate, a school should be mandatorily accredited by AACSB or Equis. It is also compulsory that the programme be running for at least four years. The school’s first class should have also graduated at least three years before the rankings were published. In the 2019 edition as many as 156 schools took part. Schools also needed to have a minimum of 20 percent of alumni reply to the survey sent by FT, with at least 20 complete responses.

While we await for the 2019 rankings for the Top MBA schools in the world, shortlisting universities that encourage international diversity and study abroad destinations that are perfect for international students should definitely be taken a look at.
