The Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings’ ‘BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2015’ is world’s ranking for universities in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS), and 17 other emerging economies.
India has 11 universities in the 2015 rankings as compared to 10 in last year’s rankings. Leading the rankings among the Indian institutions is the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) Bangalore at the 25th rank, followed by IIT Bombay at the 37th rank and IIT Roorkee close behing at the 38th rank.
Panjab University, which was ranked in 2014 has dropped down to the 39th position, followed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur (43rd rank – down from 30th rank last year), IIT Madras (44th), IIT Delhi (56th),  Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) (71st), IIT Kanpur (74th rank), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) (78th rank) and lastly, IIT Guwahati (98th rank.)
