Central Reserve Police Force was established as the Crown Representative’s Police on the 27th July’1939. It became the Central Reserve Police Force when the CRPF act was enacted on the 28th of December 1949. The force is now 77 years old.

A huge organization, it is made up of 243 Battalions (204 executive battalions, 6 Mahila Battalions, 15 RAF Battalions, 10 CoBRA Battalions, 5 Signal Battalions and 1 Special Duty Group, 1 Parliament Duty Group). It also comprises 43 Group Centers, 20 training Institutions, 3 Central Weapon Stores, 7Arms Work Shop, 3 Static Workshop, 4 Composite Hospitals with 100 beds and 17 Composite Hospitals with 50 beds.

CRPF or Central Reserve Police Force is a premier and India’s largest paramilitary force of the Armed Force of the Union of India. The main task of the CRPF is to maintain internal security. The CRPF is deployed to perform a broad gamut of duties which includes:
  • Crowd control
  • Riot control
  • Counter militancy/insurgency operations
  • Fighting Left wing extremism
  • Overall co-ordination of large-scale security arrangement (especially during elections in sensitive areas)
  • VIP protection
  • Environmental degradation checking
  • Fighting aggression
  • Participating in UN Peace Keeping Mission
  • Rescue and relief operations (during natural calamities)
The CRPF recruits young individuals for the position of Assistant Sub Inspector.

CRPF ASI and SI (Stenographer) Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications:

  • Anyone applying to the position of ASI and SI (Stenographer) must have at a minimum passed their Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent from a board or university recognized by the central or state government.
  • The candidate should have an aptitude for stenography.

Age limit:

Candidates applying to the position of CRPF ASI and SI (Stenographer) position should be in the age group of 18-25.

Physical Test:

The physical standards must be met by the candidates as specified by CRPF. IF the specifications are not met, candidates will be rejected

Weight must be proportionate to their height and age. For male candidates, the chest measurement is also an important part of the physical test. For general category candidates, the chest measurement must be 77 cms unexpanded (this is 76 cms for ST candidates) and 82 cms expanded (81 cms for ST candidates).

Written Examination:

The written examination is conducted for those candidates who qualify the physical test. The written examination tests candidates on the following and comprises 225 marks in total.

  • Hindi or English Language
  • General Intelligence
  • Numerical Aptitude
  • Clerical Aptitude
  • Descriptive Paper (Essay writing and letter writing)

Skill Test:

All those who attain minimum qualifying marks in the Written Examination then need to undergo a skill test to qualify. The transcription test in computer based while the dictation test is in shorthand strokes.

Medical Examination:

Candidates who pass all three levels of testing need to undergo a medical examination which is conducted by an authorized doctor.
