The academic session of the first Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Odisha at Sambalpur would be commencing in September 2015. IIM Indore, one of the foremost institutions under the Indian Institute of Management brand, shall act as the mentor to the newest IIM.
Odisha is a state that lacks ample educational institute and the step to set up an Indian Institute of Management in the state is likely to give a spur to the management education here. The government has finalized the temporary location of the institute to be the Sambalpur campus of Silicon Institute of Technology (SIT). It would also include five conference halls, separate hostels for men and women, Wi-Fi campus, dining hall, requisite number of classrooms etc.
The permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur shall be at Basantpur near Burla, the Odisha Minister of Employment, Technical Education and Training (ETET), Sanjay Dasburma had confirmed recently.

The Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management at IIM Sambalpur is a two year full time residential programme. It aims to make managers with strong understanding of sectors and capable of handling multiple responsibilities. Students would be able to take classes in courses such as Human Resources, Finance and Marketing.
Professor Singh of the Indore school would be the course coordinator at new management school of the prestigious brand. Since the teaching aspects would be taken care by the faculty of IIM Indore, students should be rest assured regarding the quality of the fledgling institute. The effort of IIM Indore shall be there until new institution is able to handle these activities entirely on its own.
The tuition fees would be similar to the newly proposed IIMs in the country. However, students can opt for loans from all the leading banks at concessional terms. However, details of exact amount as well as mode of payment would be sent with admission offer.
The eligibility for the PGP course 2017 will include the CAT 2016 percentile. In the case of general candidates, the cut-off is 90 percentile whereas for candidates applying from other categories have a cut-off between 50-80. However, besides the performance in CAT, the past academic performance of students shall also be taken into account. The admission process also takes into consideration the candidate’s work experience. Hence, the final selection shall include all the above mentioned making it a comprehensive process of selection.
