Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy) is one of the seven IIMs as stated during the Eleventh Five-year plan by the Government of India. It is under the guidance of IIM Banglore and is the 11th Indian Institute of Management in the Country. It was inaugurated on 4th January 2011 and Prof. Prafulla.Y.Agnihotri, a faculty of IIM Calcutta is the Director.
The permanent campus for the institute is spread over an area of 200 acres on the Trichy-Pudukottai highway. Currently the institute is functioning from National Institute of Technology campus as the permanent building is under construction.
Tiruchirappalli is a city in Tamil Nadu, located in Southern part of India. It is well connected to the major cities and towns in the country by several airlines, roadways and railways. Trichy is the industrial and education centre of Tamil Nadu.
IIM Trichy offers a 2 year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP). It is a flagship course in all the IIMs across the Country. This diploma aims at training every student with excellent managerial skills and competencies which will help the young professionals to conquer global positions by leading the Indian economy.
Admission to IIM Trichy is based on the scores of the common entrance test, CAT (Common Admission Test) which is held in the month of November/December each year. It is a very competitive process as the cut offs soars up to 99% sometimes. IIM Bangalore is the mentor to IIM Trichy at present and the admission procedures are being carried out under IIM Bangalore.
