There is no change in the paper pattern of CAT 2022. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. The CAT question paper will have 3 sections – DI LR, VA RC, QA, with each section having 40 minutes of time. Each question carries 3 marks and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

With around 35 days left to prepare, here are some tips and tricks that will help you ace the CAT 2022 exam and get a good score.

Start with basic understanding

Sometimes candidates get stuck with the basic problems. They forget how to solve such basic questions. So focus on improving your understanding of basic concepts.

Focus on all areas equally

To secure a good overall percentile, it is important that candidates do well in all sections of the CAT exam. Sectional percentile is also a factor in merit preparation, so candidates should give proper preparation for all sections.

Give more mocks

Time and accuracy is the most important aspect of clearing the CAT exam. Giving CAT mock test will help your acumen of properly utilizing time for each in the CAT exam. This also helps improve the speed of solving a problem.

Focus on concept clarity

Candidates tend to get stuck with even a simple problem if their basic concept is not clear. IIM CAT is the test of your basic understanding of problem solving. Though there is a defined syllabus, the difficulty of the majority of questions is easy to moderate.

Consistently focus on all areas

It is important to maintain a proper consistency across all sections. For example, if you are good at QA, this does not mean you should not focus on that area. Decide how time to give for which section.

Learn time management

There is limited time for each section. You must know how to manage your time so you do more questions in less time. Practice with timer on as this will help you improve your ability to solve a question in a given time.

It is important to be calm and composed not only during the CAT exam but also while preparing for it. Follow a healthy lifestyle and eat good as this will help you bust the stress and be composed and calm.
