The Delhi University (DU) released the first merit list for admissions to undergraduate courses at 5 pm yesterday. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has asked St. Stephen’s College to follow the admission procedure prescribed by Delhi University.

The merit list for Delhi University was supposed to be released on Tuesday, but it has been pushed back to Wednesday after St. Stephen’s College filed a plea with the Supreme Court. The college is challenging the Delhi High Court’s decision not to allow interviews as part of the admissions process, arguing that interviews should be allowed along with CUET scores. The state high court had ordered the college to rely solely on CUET marks, but St. Stephen’s is asking for reconsidering that decision.

This is the first time the university is holding admission process on the basis of CUET score, which has also caused some delay in commencement of the academic year. According to the schedule released by the university, the first semester will start in November 2022 and end in March 2023. However, this change in admissions policy has caused some confusion and anxiety among potential students.
