MICA Fellow Programme in Communication 2015 (FPM-C)

Mudra Institute of Mass Communication (MICA), based in Ahmedabad is one the top management institute in India for award of degrees in Mass Communication. It offers the first-of-its-kind 3 year, full-time, residential fellow program in management (communication ) [FPM-C].

The FPM is offered in these 4 areas of communication:

  • Communication and Media
  • Communication and Marketing
  • Communication and Culture
  • Communication and Social Change

Fellowship stipend

Students will be given a fellowship & contingency allowance. Fellowship includes fee waiver and a monthly stipend. The stipend paid in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year is Rs.25,000, Rs.27,000 and Rs.30,000 per month.

In addition to the stipend, a contingency grant of Rs. 25,000 in the first year and Rs. 30,000 in each of the second and third years will be available to the students for academic expenses like case material, books, travel, data collection expenses, thesis expenses etc. You can also carry over the surplus amount to the following years.

Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible to apply for MICA’s FPM-C if you meet the following requirements:

  • Have a master’s degree or equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in subjects like Humanities /Social Sciences / Business Management that have Communication/ Journalism/ Advertising/ Public Relations/ Media/ Marketing as a subject.
  • Have completed a 3 year bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification after your higher secondary (10+2) or equivalent


  • Scored 55% at least in a 5 year integrated masters degree in subjects like Humanities /Social Sciences / Business Management that have Communication/ Journalism/ Advertising/ Public Relations/ Media/ Marketing as a subject.

Your qualifications must be from AICTE recognised universities. Foreign nationals and NRIs can also apply.

Selection process

All candidates who apply for Fellow Programme in Communication (FPM-C) 2015 will be scrutinized through telephonic interviews. On the basis of telephonic interviews candidates should be short listed for MICA admission test (MICAT-FPM)

The MICA-FPM admission test 2015 will be held at the MICA campus in Ahmedabad and is a 2-day affair.

Day 1 will consist of a written test (WT) and a group discussion (GD). For the WT, the shortlisted candidates will be emailed prescribed readings. The WT will be based on these readings. The test would be descriptive in nature and will be open-book in nature i.e. you can bring your copies of the prescribed reading to the exam. The GD will be among 6-8 candidates at a time. A topic will be given and 15 minutes would be given for you to think about the topic. This would be followed by 30 minutes of discussion.

Day 2 will see you make an individual presentation (IP) and attend a personal interview (PI). You will be given 90 minutes to prepare a 15 minute PowerPoint presentation that has to be shown to a panel of experts. You can bring your own laptop, otherwise a computer will be provided at the campus. However everyone must bring a USB flash drive. The interview will assess your personality and interest for research.
