Important documents for US Visa Interview

This is a list of important documents Required For F1 visa interview that you might need to produce at the time of the visa interview.

Mandatory Documents

1. Original Interview Appointment Letter and one copy

2. Confirmation page of online submitted Form DS-160 with Bar code

 

3. Original AXIS Bank or Citibank VISA Fee Receipt

4. SEVIS Fee Receipt (Also read : US Visa Fee )

5. Original I20 obtained from the U.S. University and signed by you and the university official and one copy

6. Valid Passport

7. 2X2 inch photograph (not more than six months old) – bring this in case you did not upload photo while filling the DS160 form online

8. Birth Certificate

Academic Documents

1.  Original Degree Certificate/Provisional Degree Certificate. In case your college/university does not provide a provisional degree certificate or you are still in the final year, then you must get a Bonafide certificate which states that you are a student of that respective college/university, you are in the final year and awaiting for your results.

2. Original Mark Sheets – 10th, 12th, Bachelor’s – First Year to date

3. Backlog/Provisional mark sheets if any

4. Scorecards of GRE, TOEFL , GMAT, IELTS and other exams as applicable

5. Resume

6. Certificates of all Co-curricular and Extracurricular activities

7. Research Papers/Evidence of Project work (if any)

8. Professional and Online Certifications (if any)

9.  Letter of Scholarships or any other awards received

Financial Documents

You must show 2*amount mentioned in the I20 form as proof of funds. For example, if the i20 form mentions 12-month amount (tuition, living expenses and other) as $15,000, then you must show at least $30,000 in your funds.

1. Original Affidavit of Support from your sponsor

2. Proof of Liquid Assets sufficient to pay for the entire first year of education and living expenses. Liquid Assets include Bank Statement, Loan Sanction Letter, Fixed Deposits, Mutual Funds and Provident Funds. Additionally, you must also show funds readily available to cover the remaining year(s) of your studies in the form of fixed/non-liquid assets such as Gold Evaluation reports, Land evaluation reports and Insurance policies.

3. Original Bank Records( Bank Statements or Passbook) of sponsors for the past six months and/or fixed deposit statement of your sponsors.

4. Original Income Tax Returns for the past 3 years (Specifically form 16)

5. Proof of employment of sponsors such as salary slips and/or employment letters.

6. In case if the sponsor is a businessman, you must provide balance sheet of the business for the past 3 years.

7. In case if the sponsor is a farmer, then the appropriate land papers must be provided

8.  Financial aid from the university in the form of a scholarship, fellowship or an assistantship (TA/GA/RA)In case the applicant chooses to show this, they shall require a confirmation that a similar financial aid will be available for the entire duration of the program.

9. Financial aid from the student’s home government if the government is sponsoring for your studies.

10. CA Statement showing a short summary of the proof of funds.

5. Original documents showing work accomplished
