Podcasts are the hidden gems of media. Most people tend to overlook it since it doesn’t have that air of preeminence amongst the masses. Podcasts are an ideal learning medium for all those who want to stay informed without letting those additional hours disrupt your daily activities. Podcasts are digital radio posts that are delivered all over the internet. They are free and easy to download. They are convenient. And most of all they are immensely knowledgeable. They span practically every subject imaginable. Podcasts are a great way to stay informed about the world around you without putting in any effort at all. Students should try and benefit from this form of media to boost both their practical and theoretical knowledge.
Stuff You Should Know
Have you ever wondered about questions that you don’t need the answers to because they aren’t important in your daily life but would still like to know more about? Josh and Chuck talk about a bunch of things you probably don’t know because you will never use the information but the information is interesting and would make for a great conversation starter. Stuff like how they make sago, how credit cards work, and how much attention span a goldfish really has may interest you. This is one of those podcasts that you listen to when you aren’t looking for anything in particular to learn but want to learn all the same.
Stuff To Blow Your Mind
Robert, Joe and Christian explain things by covering a series of topics which are only entertaining because the information that you receive on the podcast won’t be available elsewhere. Although some of their research is doubtful and a few claims of theirs are unsupported, their podcasts are highly entertaining and they seem to know what they are talking about. Use it as a medium to broaden your mind and test out a few things to see if they work for you as well as the hosts describe it.

Although the title is self-explanatory, here’s something to know about this podcast. It tells the history of the world around us by looking at significant objects. It’s like going on a virtual museum tour and an interesting one at that. It tells the history of significant historical artifacts and objects such as the Mummy of Hornedjitef, the Sphinx of Taharqa, and the Pillar of Ashoka amongst others.
StarTalk Radio
Acclaimed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson explains stuff about the universe in a manner that is both concise and fascinating. On StarTalk Radio, Dr. Tyson educates his listeners on all things related to space. All his podcasts are very captivating and the knowledge he imparts to his audience ranges from elementary to college level. In addition to his amazing insight, he also interviews a lot of famous people regularly for his podcasts that make it all the more engaging.
TED Radio Hour
The TED Radio Hour podcast is a podcast of the TED talks. The subject of the TED Radio Hour depends on the TED talk the podcast references. It is basically a TED talk podcast. Guy Raz is the host and editorial director of the TED Radio Hour. It is one of the most-downloaded podcasts in the United States.

The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe
Hosted by Steven Novella and a panel of ‘skeptical rogues’ this podcast features scientific developments in the contemporary world devoid of jargon. Exploring the series will expose you to topics such as myths, conspiracy theories, cosmic radiation, neuroscience, pseudoscience, the paranormal, and many general forms of superstition, from the point of view of scientific skepticism. It aims to educate its audience and increase their understanding of things like science, critical thinking, and rationality.
You don’t have to find delight in all the podcasts listed in here, but you should weigh them up even if you aren’t studying the aforementioned subjects. Almost all of the podcasts have a a fair bit of entertainment associated with them. Most of them are free to listen to. Explore other podcasts and keep learning something new.
