NIRF 2023 Rankings: NMIMS position among the top 50 management institutes in India

NMIMS secures the 21st position among management institutes, 88th position overall, and 47th position among the top 100 universities in the latest rankings. In the category of Pharmacy institutes, it holds the 11th rank.
Despite facing scrutiny for alleged violations of distance learning norms, SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) maintains its position among the top 50 management institutes in the country, according to the recently released National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 by the Ministry of Education. NMIMS is ranked 21st among management institutes, 88th in the overall category, and 47th among the top 100 universities. Additionally, it secures the 11th position in the category of Pharmacy institutes. In the previous year, NMIMS held the 25th rank in the category of management institutes nationwide.
NMIMS, the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, has managed to maintain its position among the top 50 management institutes in the country despite facing scrutiny over alleged violations of distance learning norms. The Ministry of Education released the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 rankings, which revealed that NMIMS ranks 21st among management institutes, 88th in the overall category, and 47th among the top 100 universities. In the category of Pharmacy institutes, it holds the 11th rank. It is worth noting that in the previous year, NMIMS was ranked 25th among management institutes nationwide.
Expressing his satisfaction with the results, Dr. Ramesh Bhat, the Vice Chancellor of NMIMS University, emphasized the university’s commitment to academic excellence, industry collaborations, and holistic student development. He attributed the improved rankings to these factors and highlighted the notable rise of the School of Business Management (SBM) by four positions, placing it at the 21st position for providing world-class management education. Dr. Bhat also praised the consistent rank of 11 achieved by the Pharmacy School for two consecutive years, which he attributed to the dedication of the faculty and the quality of education offered.
The renowned management institute based in the city gained attention when it faced restrictions from the University Grants Commission (UGC) in offering distance learning and online programs due to violations of regulations. In April, the UGC issued a notice stating that NMIMS had failed to comply with UGC norms, leading to significant violations in various areas such as the operations of the center for internal quality assurance (CIQA), the quality of self-learning material and e-learning material (e-LM), and the nomenclature of the Center for Distance and Online Learning.
